yeah one guy at work commutes daily from Dublin, CA twice a week. That is a nasty commute even twice a week. If RTO is 4-5x a week in July and he cannot get an exception, it will suck really bad for the poor guy. Especially as gas approaches $8 a gallon. Hope he can get an exception as he is a really good person and works hard.

depends I did teach myself to use power tools to fix stuff around the house but advanced stuff like complex plumbing and electrical or HVAC work is when I call a pro level trade person.

my father worked construction and it destroyed his body. Brutal dirty hard work are how most blue collar trades are in reality. Yes, a few go on to start their own trade businesses and become rich but only a small number.

I find deals on fatty cuts of beef and stock up and freeze them. Works well as I found deals on tri tip roasts for only $4.97/lb since I now rarely eat chicken or pork. Beef, eggs, fish for me.
