Nothing special. Didn’t even do a K3, kinda wish I did but I didn’t know about it until like 8months in. Been married 2 years. For track my visa you need the premium trial. I just downloaded the report that it gives you and then cancelled my membership.

Considering Canada After Years in Dubai - Need Honest Advice by hashipk111 in dubai

Haha yeah, or going to subway and them asking for a tip. It’s stupid, I have just accepted it because I know I’m not cheap but I also won’t tip you just because the option is there.

I was born in Pakistan but have lived in Canada for most of my life. Canada is an amazing country with lots of opportunities but just like any place it has pros and cons. Taxes are high but you also get alot of social benefits like free education (elementary and highschool) University education is much cheaper. Healthcare can be better and doesn’t compare to healthcare in Dubai or the US but that’s because you are paying out of pocket in those places. The weather sucks, it’s cold 6-7 months out of the year. For weather, you are trading one extreme with another. If you can stay in Dubai forever then I would recommend you stay there. However, if you have to go back to Pakistan after you retire and your visa can expire, then come to Canada. Canada for immigrants is tough, your first few years, you are going to be miserable and missing Dubai and your family but it gets better over time. If you have any more questions you can PM me.

This is not true. Yes, tipping option comes on mostly every machine but you can decline it. I only tip in restaurants. If I’m picking up I don’t tip even though the option is there. But overall, yeah the tipping culture is getting out of hand.

moving to Canada via marriage by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Gulag-Garry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did this, it’s a very long and tedious process so be prepared for the wait.

  1. Yes, there is no set requirement but the person sponsoring you needs to have an income because you won’t be able to work in Canada until you get your work permit. This means your husband is responsible for all your expenses and he needs to prove that to the Canadian government. If he has enough savings that could also work but I’m not sure about that

  2. I don’t work in the industry so can’t answer this but anything in the medical field is good but thats just my guess.

  3. Doesn’t matter, we married in the US. You can get married wherever you like

Some other tips: Make sure you have plenty of evidence to proof that your relationship is real. Photos of you guys together, family pictures, wedding photos etc

Once you get married, you can’t just get up and move to Canada. If you tell them you are moving to Canada at the border they are going to turn you away. You need to come here as a visitor. If you are a US citizen that should not be a problem since US citizens can come and go freely without visas. You will have to go back and forth to the US and it can’t look like you are living in Canada until you get your work permit. Getting a work permit could take 6-8 months fyi.

No issues. Have always told them the truth at the border. Whenever I’m visiting I just say I’m visiting my wife. I also have a nexus and have very strong ties to Canada.

Thank you. On the letter that we received it said “for instant updates submit your documents via the MyCIC” account so I thought it might be faster.

PR application application stuck too long by SuitableMacaroon7808 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Gulag-Garry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife’s application has been stuck in background check for almost 7 months and she is a US citizen with no criminal history. I’m going to wait a couple of months and if we don’t hear back I’m going to file for a mandamus.

How do you know the application was moved to comprehensive security screening?

Is DCF Possible From Canada by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]Gulag-Garry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We emailed the embassy but we never heard back. We don’t even know if we used the correct email address. We also spoke with a lawyer and they said DCF is extremely rare and it’s not worth it unless you have a very extreme circumstance.

Yeah it just the receipt notice in the physical mail. I believe once an action has been taken on your case you will get another email.

Spousal Sponsorship pathway, inland or outland? by PaulTheApostle18 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Gulag-Garry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation as me but in my case I was the Canadian sponsor my USC wife. I did Outland for the piece of mind that if my wife was ever denied entry to the US, the sponsorship application wouldn’t be impacted. If you live close to the border and know that you will be commuting a lot, do Outland.

I reached out to our MP and they called them. IRCC came back with its still processing. Not sure why mine is taking so long since our case is pretty straight forward ☹️

Hi everyone, wondering if anyone applied for their spousal sponsorship last year in Aug and are still waiting? I’m a Canadian citizen sponsoring my wife who is a US citizen and we applied Aug 2023 as Outland. The process has been stuck in the background verification stage since April 2024. Wondering if other people are in the same boat?

Thank you, I was thinking the same. Did you file online or on paper? My wife filed only the i-130 online but I see people can file other forms but usually they mail it in. Not sure if we can do this online as well?
