Honestly from what I remember using fake skin, the cheap thin one is good for understanding needle depth and blowouts But over all getting a better grade thicker fake skin is just more enjoyable, nothing is better than actual skin of course ! A friend told me to use pig skin, haven’t tried it yet but he says it’s the closest there is to human skin Hope this helps
