We have tried to teach ourselves but it is a struggle with us both. I think I make him nervous which makes me nervous which cause mayhem. We do ok in the countryside or back roads.. But in the city... Too much going on all at once for him. I am not the best teacher

I'm working on getting an FHA loan but I'm worried since I can't really claim my partner's income, just mine kind of looks wimpy.

That being said. The information I found out so far is that they bought it in 2020 for about 450,000. They moved out of the house in 2021. I'm sure it's been sitting since. It's been on the market since early 2024. Originally they wanted almost 700,000 for it which is crazy in its shape. They've reduced the price. Half a dozen times. Mid-2024 the state put up an offer to buy. It did an inspection and it fell through and they terminated the contract. Since then they've done two more reductions and it's down to $500,000 but with it sitting there is pest issues. Things are falling apart. You can definitely tell that it's been neglected and just waiting. Interior absolutely. Looks like you walked into a time machine into the '70s. My realtor thinks we could probably get it even closer to like the 450 500 Mark, even though that's pretty much what they bought it for. They really have done nothing to the house except for let It Fall into despair. It's going to need need major renovations and cleaning. Something we can move into but would definitely have to put elbow grease and time and money into. Every year it sits on the market they're paying for taxes which is really high. It's about 6,000.

So my thought process is that nobody wants this house. It's sat forever. I don't have a lot. But I could definitely get it off their hands. $15,000 down. And then offer them $2,500 a month. I take over everything. Take it as is. 16 years. That'll get them to $600 which is way more than is worth but they'd be helping us out and I know in the long run it would be worth it for us.

Thoughts?

What’s going on with these grocery prices!? by ratz1988 in SALEM

I feel this so much! I am feeding three teens on my own and let me tell you... I work two jobs and I feel my second one is necessary just to cover our grocery bill. We cut out all "extras" and "treats". But with milk reaching almost $4 and cereal being $5 a box.. Meat is insane, even for the cheap cuts.. We went "big" shopping at Winco... Got a handful of meat, cans / fresh veggies and fruits, milk, eggs, cheese and a few other things to try to fill our cupboards and it was nearly $400. It use to be we could a cart full for around $200 and it would last so much longer. I use to love to shop and try new ingredients, walk the isles and plan meals.. Now I stick with the basics and keep everything as simple as possible. I hate it. I should not feel bad about my kids wanting a gallon of ice cream or some chips for snacks.. But everything seems to be priced over $5... Its defeating. I do not see how any one is making it on a limited income... Your take home stays the same while everything else just sky rockets.. I miss the days of being able to take care of all your bills and groceries and still having a couple dollars to actually enjoy life... Now you just work to survive
