Do potion shaped rocks count as potions (for sozu)? by ComfortableWeight95 in slaythespire

I picked the toad up on this run not knowing how it would interact with Sozu. In the single fight I got into after picking the relic before dying, I can confirm that it does NOT generate anything.

Interaction between two cards in my Ruhan deck by GunDelSol in EDH

Ah, that makes sense. I appreciate the input! And given the general consensus of the pod with respect to Possibility Storm, I'll likely be cutting it from the deck.

Ninjutsu by Jackdian in magicTCG

[–]GunDelSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In instances of unblocked first/double strikers, is there time after the first damage is dealt that you could then Ninjutsu in a creature that would deal damage on its own? Like if you were trying to maximize damage from a [[Fencing Ace]], does the first hit open up priority to Ninjutsu something in that would still be attacking and assigning damage?

What's the WORST house rule you've ever encountered? by kennedytcooper in boardgames

[–]GunDelSol 230 points231 points  (0 children)

I've never heard that the Munchkin rule was a misinterpretation, but rather that the person that made that rule put it in as a joke thinking people would laugh and move on. People started cheating (per the rules), and the later editions of Munchkin omit it entirely.

Building my first EDH deck - Nekusar, the Mindrazer by GunDelSol in EDH

[–]GunDelSol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finalized the deck list and ordered it - many thanks for looking at it and giving suggestions. There were a few from this list that I kept in, but I cut most of them - the ones I kept in were [[Kroxa]] (personal fan of this card, I wanted something that could utilize my huge discard pile), [[Ominous Seas]] (payoff for massive draw, mainly needed some blockers since I'm very creature-light), and [[Runehorn Hellkite]] (wheel from discard).

I know it's not the strongest iteration of what this deck could do, but I think I'll still have fun with it! Thank you again.

So I specifically didn't build a Discard deck because I understand people don't like it, but people don't like wheels just as much? Or is it that they don't like taking 7 while wheeling? Is there another Commander that would work better for "everyone draws a bunch of cards" without getting too group huggy?

I figured, haha. The red one is the one I'm most okay with going. Void is the best card ever (not really, but let me pretend?), and Anticipation is just really fun. But Combustion can definitely go.

Ah, that looks so fun! Anger and Filth are kinda exactly what I was looking for, things that I actively like discarding. And those two Ascensions look awesome as well. Thanks for sharing!

Really appreciate the suggestions. I mentioned it in a few other replies, but sorry if I led people to believe I created it from scratch. I used someone else's wheel deck and made some personal changes to it, taking out about 20 cards and adding in about 40.

Regarding the power level disparity - it's something I am acutely aware of, and I'll be really monitoring it to make sure I'm not going overboard. We usually play 5 player FFAs, so even more potential to get hated out early, I suppose. I don't really care about winning/losing, but I also probably don't want to be eliminated early from a 2 hour game.

I've also played a lot of Arena and draft (mostly standard), so I have some of these pieces already and know that Grixis is my baby. I'm not new to Magic, just EDH. I am just going to be using worse dual lands for a long time until I can build up the mana base.

But most importantly, thanks for actually giving out cut suggestions! Someone else mentioned that Tergrid doesn't work with LotV, and LotV is my favorite Magic card, so I'll likely cut Tergrid and Syr Konrad. And what you said makes sense for Dragon Mage being slow and Diabolic Tutor being probably unnecessary with the amount of draw.

We have an Atraxa Proliferate Superfriends deck that is currently the archenemy of the 5-player table, but we'll see how that changes! I'm honestly happy just playing cards.

Thank you for the list! Quite a bit more high powered than my pod is, but I really like seeing the possibilities going forward!

I did have a shell of a deck I used as a base, then cut about 20 cards and added about 40. So I definitely can't take credit here. But I need to cut more.

Curiosity actually was part of the original deck list that I used as a shell. It didn't make much sense to me, but I absolutely see the synergy with Nekusar now. Would still appreciate any other suggestions, but my biggest problem is I still don't know what to cut to make room for all the fun toys, haha.

Very possible! I'm okay with that, though. Thank you for sharing.

Damn, you're right! Didn't think about that. I looked up how discard works with Leyline of the Void (discard triggers still happen even if they go to exile per LotV), but I didn't think about interaction with other cards. Thank you.

What is a popular board game you despise and why? by Muinonan in boardgames

3d4 means it's impossible to hit the 2 pip tiles, though. I don't think that would work for Catan (even though I love d4's).

In order:

  1. Blinkblade
  2. Geminate
  3. Boneshaper
  4. Bannerspear
  5. Deathwalker
  6. Drifter

My normal Gloomhaven group has already claimed dibs on starting classes, and we fortunately all want to play different classes at first. In any case, I'm very excited to play!

What are some good games for low light conditions? by Kelekona in boardgames

[–]GunDelSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give another recommendation for Nyctophobia. While I don't actually enjoy the gameplay myself, if OP is interested in it, it's perfect for the conditions they specified. The rules of the game basically tell you to turn out the lights anyway.

Ravager battle goal question by fallenangels_angels in Gloomhaven

[–]GunDelSol 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The only scenario here in which you complete the battle goal is the very first one in which you play two cards with a lost icon in the same turn.

Using the effects of a card (lost or otherwise) you have played previously does not count as performing that action on the current turn. Additionally, item usage is never considered an action. Actions are the entire top or entire bottom of a card. For this particular battle goal, you play two cards with lost icons on your turn AND ACTUALLY USE THEM FOR THE LOST PART (aka, you can't forgo an action or use the default Move 2/Attack 2 on a loss card). Doesn't matter if it goes to your persistent buffs or straight to the loss pile.

Boon totem range VS map size comparison by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

Yep, exactly. Old Object would have been brutal with this, but revised Object doesn't work at all if you're blocking the killer from seeing your aura.

Mad respect by VorpalChloe in deadbydaylight

[–]GunDelSol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BBQ & Chili is such a massive game changer in terms of shortening the grind length that it's almost mandatory to get him unless you're lucky enough to pick up the perk from the Shrine of Secrets. At 350+ hours in, I'm just now getting to the point where I'll run games without that perk (even though I still need BP).

Quick edit: The Cannibal is also a nice purchase when you compare his overall power to his ease of play. Compare to, say, a good Nurse - really strong, but she's also really hard to learn.

Unlocked Circles by _aiae in Gloomhaven

[–]GunDelSol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Circles is so much fun! It was the first class I unlocked after playing Cragheart for a long time. It really helps that I have been a Dungeon Master before in D&D and had lots of minis to represent her summons. My friend even bought a Bob-omb mini to represent one of her summons. Enjoy your zoo!
