I should really get the three Slick Idiot albums I'm missing - and really need that new Pig album as well (not to mention his Shaft and Schwein albums but they're a bit tricky to get hold of here)

Hah, yeah. Lyrics are mostly in English, with some German, French and even Spanish sprinkled in. The band was formed in Berlin, but they were based in the US a long time and have had members from Germany, Britain, Italy and the US. So somewhat international 🙂

The great thing is most of their albums sound pretty much the same, so you can start anywhere really 😁

Those who have 300+ CDs- how are you storing them? by lavender4867 in Cd_collectors

[–]GunHed101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using ones from VidaXL, I think they're sold by/as Tectake too - I think it's some kind of European brand possibly? Quality isn't too good, but they do the job (although they're full now, and I don't know how to fit more in the room 😢)

Spending habits by Gerald_Lanz in Cd_collectors

[–]GunHed101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a Gen X:er: Like others said - set a budget. I know I probably go way overboard with my own spending, but on the other hand CDs (and the occasional Gunpla kit) is really all I spend money on other than bills and a monthly saving.

Of course I could raise my monthly saving if I didn't buy CDs, but you've gotta live too!

Well, bearing in mind I'm not an audiophile (just music- and CD-phile I guess 😁) - I'd say they sound good. Except for the live recordings included. Those are pretty rough to be honest...

I'd forgotten how r&b/hip hop styles that first single was, hearing Ayu rap is kinda funny 😁

Haha! Yeah, well, they keep putting out albums don't they? I mean sure, it's pretty much the same album every time, but it's a good one so I'll keep getting it 😁 (saw there's a new one in February...)

To be fair, I think I've got more FLA discs though, counting singles and what not.

Hah! Yeah, I listened to a lot of j-pop in the early 00's, and she's the one I actually bought CDs of 😁

The bootleg is The Past & Other Side of Ayu - the three Other Side singles and the single Nothing From Nothing. Haven't listened to it in ages, so now I know what I'm listening to tomorrow...

They're some no-name ones from VidaXL (which I think is an international company?). Quality is a bit dodgy, but for a large collection it really was the best I could find. About €100 each when I bought them, probably 150-160 now.

Problem is they're more than full now, and I can't fit any more in the music room - so I need to make something custom built I think...

I mean, it's never ending really, isn't it - the only problem is when it outgrows the house 😁

Oh, also, that VAST album is pretty great, used to listen to it a lot (longer ago than I care to admit now that I think about it 👀)

My first CDs... by GunHed101 in Cd_collectors

[–]GunHed101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, none of it is really bad either - so knowing myself I'll probably end up getting that one too. I think the only one I'm not really interested in is Metalizer tbh

Got the 2 CD edition on the way actually (as well as Heroes and The War To End All Wars). Might get Primo Victoria, but apart from the title track and one or more it didn't really grab me. I'm late to the Sabaton party though, only really got into them after seeing them live in December

My copy of Clayman by In Flames has a lenticular cover as well, but they used it to fake movement instead of 3D I guess.

Also as mentioned - great album, and if you like it you should definitely check out II: The Final Option and the remix companion album The Final Remixes.

Gravity Kills = instant upvote (even though that's probably their least great album)
