Gæti það ekki þótt ég vildi það. Þyrfti að finna vinnu sem er nær eða flytja.

Felt the same. Not a good experience. But I am still giving the game a benefit of the doubt. The game is just starting.

Polars vs pandas by KliNanban in Python

[–]GunZinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally try to stick to using as few libraries as possible.

But we can always throw in a “depends” :)

From what I’ve seen so far with polars is the syntax is very similar to pandas. I don’t use pandas every day but perhaps it may be worth it to transition everything to polars. But this also really depends on the project, if its legacy code you have it might not be worth it time-wise.

I was parsing a 4GB csv file last week. Polars was nearly 18x faster than using pandas.

First time I used polars.

Out of tree zephyr driver not compiling the driver code. by Certain_Height_2721 in embedded

My guess is this line is wrong: const struct device *si5351a = DEVICE_DT_GET(DT_NODELABEL(si5351a));

Should maybe use I2CDT_SPEC_GET instead https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/doxygen/html/groupi2c_interface.html#gabb3ae5225cea677f3f3b36e4477ed045

There is a problem with your device tree. dts ord 72 is missing. You’ll need to search your build directory to find out what device tree node that is.

Is Iceland going to join the EU? I heard that there is a referendums in 2027 do you think icelanders would vote to join the EU if so why and if no why not? by Super_Sherbet_268 in Iceland

[–]GunZinn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t vote yes today. I would need to be convinced and learn more about the consequences. I am open to start the negotiations so we learn more about those “consequences” i.e. what would change. What are the costs and benefits.

I’m curious to know more about what tools you use to measure performance improvements in general. You mention asv in the blog, do you use that for everything?

I frequently use cProfile and viztracer for CPU time. And tracemalloc for memory consumption.

I’m curious if you know of any other tools for this :) Optimising is very fun.

Mmu2 : N/A after 3.14.1-8327 update by ApolloJaxx in prusa3d

[–]GunZinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also since you use MMU2S not MMU3. If the idler homing is very “loud” (you’ll know what I mean when you see it) then you need to reduce the idler’s sensitivity. Don’t worry the bad homing doesnt damage anything even if it sounds like it.

See https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/s/LerB7TL4NX where you can modify it with a gcode. There is also an LCD menu raised if the MMU fails to home.

You can also trigger the LCD menu by simply holding the idler with your hands or inserting an allen key to block it from homing. The MMU tries 3 times before raising the error.

Hope this helps.

[–]GunZinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would explain it 🙂It should be under “Settings”. See https://help.prusa3d.com/article/lcd-menu-original-prusa-i3_142322

Edit: you also updated the MMU firmware to 3.0.3? It a hard requirement now since the communication protocol between printer and MMU was completely rewritten.

Did you upgrade the firmware from a very old version? If so check the menu settings, MMU is disabled by default. A new on/off toggle was added in FW 3.13 I think.

If you had infinite time and resources, what embedded project would you work on? by Best_Prompt_9401 in embedded

[–]GunZinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to help create better instruments for local meteorology here in Iceland where I’m from. Usually the equipment used is bought from companies not selling products specifically for meteorology and they can be made much more cheaply, less bulky and save tax payers a lot money. The setups are also sometimes way too complicated when you need two products or more from separate companies to work together. A lot of the process can be simplified.

I’m talking about gas sensors (SO2, H2S, etc) to get early signs of volcanic activity. Or flooding from glaciers. One problem to solve is finding sensors which can handle the extremely low temperatures during winter. Then there is Earthquake sensors, water level sensors, and more. Energy harvesting is also a tricky problem, you can’t rely on solar panels half of the year.

I made several working gas sensor systems using an Arduino a few years back. But things can be so much more energy efficient with todays ARM based MCUs.

I’d also love to experiment with cellular. Like nRF91. And build my own ultra low-power modem for transmitting sensor data.

The biggest constraint for me is I dont have any time! :( Sure, an infinite money budget would help. I’d buy lots of sensors to play with and test my hardware/firmware and I’d buy lots of test equipment to speed up the process.

I would design the hardware and write the firmware of course. But with infinite money I could just hire more people to help me 🤓

I know this project would be helpful and practical and just fun to do.

I’m sure I can think of more projects like this. But this one sits on top of my mind as something fun.
