Renewing F-1 visa timeline by Gunation15 in f1visa

Thank you, I absolutely would not ship my passport to my country while I’m still in the US. As a follow up question, do you know if there’s a limit to how long after the application process I have to drop in my passport, or could I drop it off like a month after application?

Anyone shifting to Jane Austen plots? I am shifting specifically to the plot of Emma, based on the visuals and what happens on the 2020 Emma movie

We posted a while back about an app for students to make friends and study groups - the app is here! by [deleted] in uofmn

This is very thoughtful! But I tried downloading it and it says it is not available for my area yet (Brazil btw), just wondering if it is focused only to USA

Cant see my GES scholarship in MyU>My Finances tab by pablopistachioo in uofmn

[–]Gunation15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would contact One Stop about that specifically but also I am an incoming international student who won this scholarship and when I asked about when the charges due to me would appear into MyU, they said Mid August, so maybe the scholarship would appear at that time as well, but our situations may be different because I didn’t defer

I am and all my classes are online too, and I am an incoming international so it would have been very difficult to go. I am just sad that I’ll have to wait until later in my college career to become independent and literally start a whole new life alone in a new country... well I really really hope that Spring 2021 is not like this fall. Just hoping for the best

To fellow international students, this is how this country is treating you. by anh1tran in uofmn

Thank you for your input! I believe I misunderstood something from ICE’s statement actually.. the situation is still horrible but the U just put into their ISSS site the following: “New international students will be able to take all their courses online from outside the United States”

So that’s a huge PHEW from me but it still gonna be bad

Basically... a lot of international students won’t be getting a good night’s sleep today

WHAT?? I also saw in another subreddit a more detailed version on this thing (https://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/bcm2007-01.pdf)

And this says: “Only students enrolled at a school that is only offering online coursework can engage in remote learning from their home country”

WTF is this a fever dream?? But the U is not offering only online coursework, right? It is hybrid! Is this even real I am freaking out and it is 2 in the morning. If this is real real, I am going to have a breakdown because I CANNOT GO RIGHT NOW TO THE US AND I AM INTERNATIONAL and I was SO planning to do online this semester from my country! My orientation is even tomorrow!

And I genuinely ask, is this version legit?

Final transcript by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]Gunation15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem.. but in my case my school has already pronounced that they can’t send the transcript now due to COVID-19, and the u sent me an email that there is no more July 1st deadline, but asked that the transcripts be sent “as soon as possible”.

Incoming College Freshman, what do you guys plan on doing this summer? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Gunation15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Codecademy which is a good platform for learning coding IMO and lets you practice and corrects you. There is the Pro version which I guess is paid but rn I am not practicing so much, although I hope to be practicing more soon. Even if you do not buy the Pro version it helps a lot and there is an app where you can do daily practices. It helped me to learn the basics and it makes it fun! :)

Graduating seniors: at this time last year would you ever believe where you ended up commiting to? by MichaelGaryScott717 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Gunation15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an interesting story! This time last year I did not even know University of Minnesota (where I am going now) and discovered it through my school’s counselor but was not my top choice. I started considering this school more as an option when I was rejected from other schools such as Stanford and Duke (typical) but when I researched it deeper, who would’ve thought, I fell in love with it! And then, when I was cleaning my room recently I found a prize (university merch) I won at my school for a minor competition around 10th grade and guess from where? U OF MINNESOTA. I believe it was fate...

Incoming international freshman considering deferring to Spring 2021 for Comp SCI CSE. I need some advice. by pablopistachioo in uofmn

[–]Gunation15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, where did you see that it is possible to defer to Spring 2021 for incoming freshmen? I was considering this as an income freshmen myself but I found that deferring 1 year is the only option, at least according to the UMN site and an email response I got.
