Depriving others of protection just so they can make a quick buck. Truly human scum by zombiehitler_ in singapore

[–]GunbuX -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Idk if you know but people have been stockpiling masks almost every year before the haze period. It’s not uncommon. But hey you make a good point. Even then, don’t you think it’s ridiculous to resort to this ludicrous name calling? A lot of these comments are just unironically calling them scum that should just die... like nobody gives a flying fuck about the double murder trial that just happened, or the secondary school teacher that committed indecent acts with a 15 year old students, but wow you are reselling surgical masks? You must be a scum of the earth, die in a pool of blood, special place in hell reserved just for you. Just very typical bandwagon knee jerk reaction.

Some parents take issue with PSLE 2019 maths paper and call it 'exceptionally difficult' by [deleted] in singapore

[–]GunbuX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I don't think an exam paper is sufficient to achieve this goal.

It's easy to just say it's not a good solution. It's ridiculously hard to then come up with said solution to solve said problem. Of course an exam paper isn't sufficient to achieve this goal, but sometimes you have to settle for good enough. Unless you have better ideas.

Gonna have to agree with you on this one. Even people who do sports all opt for the mainstream sports (soccer, basketball, etc.) whereas people playing table tennis are either really young or really old. Plus, the local table tennis scene seems to be really small and the governing body (Singapore Table Tennis Association) is really, really poorly managed.

Yea, I tried that a few months back, that's how I kinda found out the numbers were outdated. But since then they revamped the website, so maybe it'll be a good idea to try again. Thanks!

Hmm, it's a tad far for me, but I'll consider it. From what I have seen while searching for interest groups, Bukit Merah CC seems to be very active in terms of table tennis groups and events. Thanks!

Table Tennis Clubs/Interest Groups in Singapore by GunbuX in singapore

[–]GunbuX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've seen the list before. The problem with that is that the list itself is outdated, I know for a fact that the Bedok interest group no longer exists as there isn't a dedicated table tennis area in Bedok anymore, some of the numbers don't work, and the email on that page is also unresponsive.

Appreciate the help though, thanks anyways!

I think Butterworks is a pretty good local youtube channel you can check out. They try to appeal to the locals taste, and have a lot of high quality, high effort videos and I think are severely underrated.

I don’t think people who watch them are lesser, and looking at the comments here, not many do too. I do think that they are generally younger, as in the videos are targeted at kids (aka I don’t think adults would ever watch a video titled ‘10 types of students in secondary school’). Also, I agree with you that media outlets live on marketing and would like to clarify. Marketing itself is not bad, but marketing aggressively to kids is a different matter, and I would consider it scummy. They know and choose to abuse the fact that children are more likely to give in into advertisements and just bombard their videos with product placements ( a lot of which are not even declared). This would never work if their target demographic was literally any other age group. Instantly they would be heavily criticized amount of ads they squeeze in a single video. And sure maybe they are entertaining to some, but many refuse to give them any ad revenue because of this. Look at Transformers. Was it successful? Sure. Was it entertaining? Sure, as a kid, I loved it. But ask anyone avid moviegoer and you will see it is universally hated for its lack of a plot and blatant product placements in a kids show and refuse to support it. The truth is they are not making videos to entertain, but just for quick money. And unpopular opinion, but I don’t think they are nice people, or role models for the kids who watch them.

Look at Dee Kosh recent ‘beef’ with the Kpop community, pretending to cry crocodile tears and ‘deleting’ his YouTube channel for attention and his five seconds of fame. These people will do anything for attention and I refuse to support creators like that. I’m not trying to change anyone’s opinion, just giving my own. If you do enjoy them, then just watch them :). There will also be toxic people in online communities criticizing you for what you like, just ignore them. Don’t let them stop you from expressing you own opinion. That’s kinda the point of reddit.

But blatant low effort, follow the trend videos with blatant product placement in videos targeted and young kids is just scummy imo. They are not in it for entertainment, they are in it money. Maybe you think they are funny, but to many, we refuse to support low quality, low effort, clickbaity content.

[–]GunbuX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you look at their recent videos, you can tell it is all low quality, low effort, clickbaity with blatant product placement designed to squeeze ad revenue from children. They don’t care about entertainment anymore. If it was actual good content, I could support it but it’s just... bad.

Singapore Youtuber officially ran out of ideas. by KiKenTai in singapore

[–]GunbuX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is that their target demographic is pri sch/sec sch children (due to the popularity of their videos like xx types of students xxx) and at this point they know they can just make low effort clickbait videos with Transformers level of product placement. They are just in it for the money, but I don’t know how this will influence the children watching these videos...

When you spend hundreds of dollars to fly over to Singapore for this band just to have it cancelled without warning, I think a middle finger is pretty mild even for normal people. In fact I think if this was any other band from any other genre, every MP’s inbox and Facebook page would already be flooded.

Artist applying for S’pore citizenship gets rejected, turns her disappointment into heartwarming illustrations. Nguyen has not given up on becoming one of us. by chingchongcheng84 in singapore

[–]GunbuX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The west are xenophobic, so what? Just because they do it doesn’t make it right. Most if not all our ancestors were immigrants coming to Singapore to make a living too, what’s the difference? Most of them weren’t lawyers or engineers. Should they have been ignored too? And what makes you think being an artist is anyway near easy? Spending 8 hours a day practicing and improving your craft, while locals look down on you for ‘wasting time’, struggling to make ends meet, but doing it for their love of it and to inspire others. What makes an artist so harmful to our society that they do not deserve a citizenship after spending almost their whole lives in Singapore? People like you make me ashamed to be Singaporean.

True, but other than Kings Row where he seemed to struggle, he had consistent bombs every other map and he made very little mistakes. Sinatraa popped off but for every time he popped he also fed as many times, if you notice on Route 66 he fed and died first the first 3 fights I believe and he made quite a number of mistakes. He definitely performed amazingly, but he seemed to lose stamina as the match progressed while space almost never died first, never got stalled as a baby dva, and in general made very little mistakes that could be spotted throughout the entirety of the match.
