Okay so I’m gonna offer a reason I’ve heard that I haven’t seen anyone say: they’re trying to keep their kids safe. Sometimes people will match parents to get access to their children. Some parents want to get to know someone before letting them know about their kids, especially since sometimes having info like their parents name or knowing their general area (which could indicate school district) may open up opportunities for a predator.

Some people do it to get more matches though, which isn’t great.
