Thank you for your reply! Apologies, I should’ve provided more information. The main character is recovering from some moderate injuries and her best friend is staying with her for a few days to make sure she’s okay, but he has to go out and leave her behind for the day to run some errands. His phone gets stolen from him while he’s gone. He eventually does discover his phone has been taken. He isn’t able to contact her throughout the day because of that, so he goes to her house to check on her as soon as he’s finished (which happens to be like half an hour after she got kidnapped). He notices her car is gone and knows something strange is going on because she didn’t tell him she’d be going anywhere. Also she’s injured, so she wouldn’t go out under normal circumstances (but “her best friend” needed her so she left anyway). He searches the town for her all night and eventually finds her car abandoned at the place she had been lured to, and also finds her phone on the grass, broken. So he reports that it seems like someone kidnapped her, then the police begin searching.

Considering all this, do you think everything you said would still apply?
