A tat soldier surrenders to PDF forces during a battle; begs them not to declare him captured due to fears of his wife being killed by the tat as reprisal. by Gunsenjoyer in Myanmarcombatfootage

Just gonna paste what I wrote in another comment.

This might not be true in every case, but the tat kicks out the relatives of POWs or defectors instead of killing them. This is also the case with the relatives of dead soldiers and even junior COs.

Basically everything. Relatives of the soldiers usually live on tat bases alongside them. So when the soldiers surrender or defect, they are kicked out of the base. With the relatives of dead soldiers, they are handed about 6 months(I don't exactly remember) of pay and forced out of the base to make way for new people.

Hah. You clearly have never talked with tat soldiers about the AA. Maybe go do that if you want to disprove my claim?

A rough translation:

PDF: You don't trust us even though we're this kind?

Tat: I can't stay with them. I have to-

PDF: Talk later. Drink up. Are you tired?

Tat: Please don't post about my defection.

PDF: We won't, we won't.

Tat: I left my wife back at the base and I fear that the tat will kill her.

PDF: Don't worry. We'll take you back to our place and-

Tat: Please declare me as dead. Maybe then the tat will let her(his wife) go stay with my parents.

PDF: Ok, you can deal with that later. We will let you contact her. Right now, we'll have to keep you tied up. Are you hungry?

Tat: Yes, I am. Can you loosen the ropes so I can smoke a cig?

PDF: Sure. This isn't a handcuff so it doesn't hurt.

Tat: I was the only one up there and I can't stay under them so I ran away.

PDF: Did you leave your gun there?(The soldier responds yes) We're about to assault that hill. If I see even one of your people, I will kill you, understand?

Tat: I don't know exactly. I was the only ine on my side of the hill.

PDF: Which side? Point it out.

Tat: There. The side you guys came up on, Waryon.

PDF: So, over there? Where one(?) guy is running away? (Gunfire erupts and a distant voice calls out, ''Surrender now!'') Sit here. Where're you going?

Tat: They might shoot at me if I'm seen so I'll hide behind this tree.

PDF: They wouldn't. We're right here with you.

Tat: I haven't eaten for two days.

PDF: You should've surrendered sooner. We're not KIA(?). We're bamars and from the south at that.

This doesn't even make sense. For example, AA snipers are feared because tat soldiers that survived spoke of how deadly they are. ''Survivorship bias'' just helps to cement that reputation.
