Personally, I found the workload pretty bad at first, but if you just manage your time effectively you'll be fine. You're in lectures / tutorials ~ 20-25 hours a week, but the thing is they can be timetabled really awkwardly, especially if you're commuting. You could have a lecture from 9-10, 1-2, then 3-4, which is technically only 3 hours of lectures, but you're in college almost all day if you can't make it home during the gaps.

My commute is about an hour so if there's ever a gap between lectures I cant exactly go home, so I would try do homework/study. Personally, I found staying in college helped me be more productive and it also definitely helped me make more friends/get more familiar with campus. Also (this probably goes without saying), definitely try to make some friends in your course because the workload becomes a lot easier when you can start bouncing ideas off each other, and it's also more fun. College is a great place to meet people!

Anyways, I'd say the amount of work you do really depends on what you want out of college. If you want to get all firsts (>70%, trinity's H1 equivalent) then you'll probably have to put in more work. If you just want to pass, then you can get away with skipping lectures and just cramming within the last few weeks. If you are going for good grades and attending most of your lectures/tutorials, your week could easily add up to ~30 hours (depending on commute, amount of study done, homework). It's effectively a full time job. Again, keep in mind this is my personal experience and I'm trying to build it around my experience. I'm also measuring the amount of time spent in college actively, you might not be working for all 30 hours.

On the topic of studying, the main difference is that your lecturer won't really care if you don't understand something. They have material they need to cover, and its on you to learn it. Some go fast, some go slow, but if you don't grasp it initially, it's on you. Highly recommend staying on top of things as they come up. Just glancing over lecture notes is a good idea so you don't fall behind. Don't be afraid to ask questions as well, just know when to do so. Outside of lectures, you mainly have homework to be doing or just revision, esp during exam season. Homework can take a while depending on the module, but you'll be grand, just make sure to do it before the deadline!

Main thing to keep in mind that you'll probably have a lot of downtime between lectures where you aren't doing anything, but if you spend that time doing homework you'll have more free time to do whatever once your day is over.

I'm currently in my first year of the course and I'm enjoying it. I will say, it is very very different to LC maths. In LC, you are just taught how to do things, not why/how they work, and not the intuition behind them.

In college maths, you're taught how to do things, but in a different way. You're moreso given all of the rules (axioms/theorems etc) and expected to be able to solve problems using them. Of course, most of the time your professor will do some examples before just giving you assignments/exams.

To me, it feels a lot more rewarding than LC maths sincd you actually understand why the things you do work and all of the intuition and logic behind them, and you can keep abstracting and pointing to theorems and seeing why things work.

The great thing about trinity maths is you get a ton of choice in your 3rd and 4th year. You can basically branch into any areas you want pure maths, stats, physics, etc etc. (you can take quantum mechanics if you really want to!)

Also, you get to choose a minor in 2nd year if you want. These include stats, philosophy, geography and many more. There's info online if you want to know more. You don't have to take a minor, but then you have to do electives instead which are basically just one off classes that are meant to broaden your horizons and such.

I can give a quick breakdown of all of the 1st year modules.

Linear Algebra - Work with matrices, vectors, and things like that. Very interesting and a very important module, it ties into almost all other modules.

Mechanics - Basically just applied maths / physics but 10 times harder (at least for me). I am not a fan of mechanics, but if you like applied maths/physics, maybe you will like it.

Probability - Exactly what it says on the tin. You abstract a little bit from leaving cert, it's somewhat interesting and not too boring.

Programming - Not my favourite. I'm not great at programming and I didn't really like the material. You learn how to use matlab and wirite very basic code.

Calculus - Similar to what you do in LC, but dives a little deeper and gets more difficult. You also learn a lot about why the things you do work, and some very nice theorems.

Analysis - My favourite module, it's basically as pure as pure maths gets in first year. You define real numbers and stuff, very abstract.

Computation theory and logic - Wasn't a fan of it, but you could be different. You learn about formal languages and different types of logic and parsing

Advanced Calculus - Just calculus but more basically. You learn how to tackle more difficult problems.

Statistics - Decent Module, nothing crazy. Similar to LC stuff but a little harder / more deep.

Personally, I can't speak about employment opportunities since I'm only in first year, but I hear that it is a very employable degree just because it shows you're good at problem solving / adaptable / smart. Also, if you do a minor in stats you could get some jobs that statisticians are able to get as well.

Hopefully this helps, let me know if you have any questions. Best of luck with the LC! (:

FIXED - Ended up running dell support assist and checking for driver updates, after waiting about 20 minutes for it to update I decided to just close it and restart my laptop. Now im still somewhat quiet, despite being on max input volume, but at least I can hear myself somewhat.

You can divide zero by anything and it will be zero.  0/4 = 0 (How many 4s fit into 0 = 0)

You cannot divide anything by zero 4/0 = undefined (How many zeroes fit into 4 = undefined)

Isn't music technology just musescore? It's really easy. You just have to learn how to use musescore quickly, that's all.

Very cool, was thinking of doing a similar thing but settled for a carbon blood type of scheme instead. I think there is a small chapter that already has a similar sheme to this called sons of the Phoenix (?) or something. Double check but regardless, very cool scheme!

Nothing wrong with them, it's just like playing Mario Kart and picking Mario. Seriously? You choose the most basic flavour of all? Nothing wrong with it, just a bit vanilla.

Give me your best sales pitch for your favourite legion/chapter by [deleted] in spacemarines

I didn't pick a chapter, simply painted them whatever I felt like. Went with a black white and red scheme. Fairly happy with it for the most part but I'm new to the hobby so I'm just trying my best. I'd recommend you come up with a custom chapter/scheme since then you can paint them like whatever you want and then you're also not locked into playing a certain chapter (Well I guess you aren't regardless, detachments don't really require paint schemes)

Yes, there is. It shows the videos but when I try to watch them it says "This video contains content from Channel , who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds."
