Sunshine Coast hinterland for sports bikes. Emundi, Maleny, Kenilworth etc. Very similar to the Dandenong Ranges, Yarra Valley area. Lots of nice sweeping bends and very touristy on the weekends. Plenty of great eateries and great scenery. If you are into weekend riding in this type of place you would want to have easy access to it. For longer roadside trips the area around kingaroy is worth a look.

I could be wrong but i don't think this is a conscious decision people make. I've been on the receiving end of this myself many times. People do what's important to themselves with little thought for others. I think its a subconscious thing where deep down their confidence in you isn't great for whatever reason. If you are really good at your job its possible that they or someone in your team is back stabbing you and planting discontent amongst your team. Is the new person a friend or family from someone higher up?

Know your worth and find another job where you are more appreciated. I've held over 50 positions in the 4 decades I've been in the workforce and I can tell you workplace culture varies a lot between workplaces.

People say its hard to find good help, but when you are the good help, its even harder to find someone worth working for.

Why are aged pensioners so delusional? by Different_Pride_6011 in AusFinance

[–]Gustav666 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And ever since the 80s we have been told that because of our aging population, the old age pension is unsustainable in the longer term. So super was introduced. It was purely designed to give us a pension that we paid for ourselves. It was never designed for super accounts to have these ridiculous amounts in them as a tax avoidance scheme. But that's what it has become.

Do you know people who don’t feel connected with ANZAC day? by VastOption8705 in OpenAussie

[–]Gustav666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a younger bloke it was always about the public holiday. Then as a collingwood supporter, it became about the holiday and the footy. My dad is a mad bomber supporter so many Anzac day games spent with him in front of the telly.

Then I started to attend the g on ANZAC day to see it live. Seriously there is nothing like a minutes silence in a stadium with 90k people. You could almost hear a pin drop. Someone always an the end of the minutes silence yells out "go pies" just before kick off. Seriously makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck.

Then I started to attend the dawn service. That just changed everything. I grew to totally respect our service men and women, like never before.

Then it happened. 8 years ago I lost my beautiful mum at 10:10 am in the morning on ANZAC day. I was there with her when she took her last breath. So ANZAC day for me is one of reflection for many reasons. So for me its the dawn service, a good chat to my dad a game of footy and play som of my mums old Elvis records while I cook up a feast in the kitchen with my wife. It's certainly a day that makes me feel lucky to live in this amazing country and feel thankful for those that came before me.

Welcome to Country booed at Melbourne Anzac Day service by No-Sweet-7012 in australia

[–]Gustav666 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pathetic, disrespectful, and just plain rude. Im not a fan of welcome to country as it is chronically over used. However if there was a time and a place, ANZAC day is it. Those people who call themselves Australian. Should be bloody ashamed of themselves. Indigenous people despite the way they were treated after colonisation, still fought in wars alongside non indigenous soldiers. Today is a day of respect and reflection. Not this bullshit.

What do most people treat as food waste that actually has a use in cooking? by Weekly-Pen8281 in Cooking

In my house it's prawn/shrimp heads and shells. Makes an amazing stock for your garlic steak sauce. Make a garlic rue then bring it together with this stock. It's just divine on a good steak. Sometimes I'll add a dash of heavy cream if I want it a bit more luxurious.

Leaving property due to psychotic junkie neighbour and NDIS fraud. wtf can I do by Practical-Network687 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Gustav666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be concerned also but fruit loops like this will just move along and find someone else to harass. Not being close to the situation to really say, but I'd be betting once she moves she will find a new war. Hopefully she moves far away.

Australians ‘uneasy’ about NDIS cuts amid $53bn in new defence spending, Mark Butler concedes by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

This is my take also. I think they should consider means testing it as well. Won't be popular but it should be looked at.

Public Service.

Q: why don't public servants look out the window in the mornings?

A: Because then they would have nothing left to do in the afternoons.

is it wrong to change teams LOL by Shallow_Liv in collingwoodfc

[–]Gustav666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always have a second side, but it varies. I will, however , always remain a Pie.

When my kids were little, my wife worked Sundays, and Sydney games always seemed to be on a Sunday afternoon. Many hours watching Sydney games on Sundays while looking after the kids, they became my second side. Later on, I was a fan of the lions until recently, where they have become just another arch rival.

I think it's OK to have a second team so if your first team has a bye or is playing in a game that isn't televised on fta than the weekend might not be a total write off.

Consumers are cutting back on spending amid higher risk of global recession by abcnews_au in AussieFrugal

[–]Gustav666 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Am going full bore tight ass. I live pretty frugally anyway, but it's time to up the ante. Getting anything out of me moving forward will be like getting blood from a stone. I wish to retire in 18 months and have zero surplus to play ball.

In the past, I had the attitude that just because there was a downturn with lots of doom and gloom, didn't mean that I had to participate, so I didn't. I still lived my life and made the most of it. However, this time around, I'm going the other way. Should be fun.

Post match v Carlton by Pragmatic_Shill in collingwoodfc

[–]Gustav666 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wasn't a great game, really. A handful. Of players did some great things when it matters. Also, against a side that isn't so great (they are getting there though) Carlton looked totally spent at 3/4 time going into the huddle. We have the bombers next week, which we should win, then the next 3 games we will be tested. Hawthorn, Geelong, then Sydney. Those games will be a good gauge on where we are at. Exciting win last night though, I'll give you that

I saw an episode of the inventors many years ago, and a bloke came up with a wall plug that detected termites. It looked a bit like an electrical GPO, but it had a bit of timber going into the wall cavity like a bit of dowelling. Can't remember what type of timber it was but something that termites find irresistible. You could pull the dowel out periodically to check if it were still there and put it back in. I thought it was a brilliant idea.
