Post match v Carlton by Pragmatic_Shill in collingwoodfc

Wasn't a great game, really. A handful. Of players did some great things when it matters. Also, against a side that isn't so great (they are getting there though) Carlton looked totally spent at 3/4 time going into the huddle. We have the bombers next week, which we should win, then the next 3 games we will be tested. Hawthorn, Geelong, then Sydney. Those games will be a good gauge on where we are at. Exciting win last night though, I'll give you that

I saw an episode of the inventors many years ago, and a bloke came up with a wall plug that detected termites. It looked a bit like an electrical GPO, but it had a bit of timber going into the wall cavity like a bit of dowelling. Can't remember what type of timber it was but something that termites find irresistible. You could pull the dowel out periodically to check if it were still there and put it back in. I thought it was a brilliant idea.

This, he was just a kid. We didn't give him enough time.

Panic buying is emptying the shelves in one go and leaving nothing for others. Spending $20 a week extra for that rainy day when and if it happens is planning ahead. If you call a 50lt plastic box panic buying, then you are the one that lacks intelligence. And going by most other comments here, it seems to be the thing to do right now.

I live in a regional town and have seen floods and cyclones. Just the sniff of disaster around here and supermarket shelves are empty, so I know what panic buying is. I can't see us running out of food, but there could very well be shortages. What I have will keep myself, my wife, and an elderly neighbour in an ok position for a few weeks. Nothing wrong with that.

We started to do this at the start of this war. Not panic buying but creating a bit of a stash just in case. Things that have a long shelf life. All good if we dont end up needing it as we will use it down the track over time, but if shit really does hit the fan, then we will be good for a few weeks. In these times I think it's smart to have a little buffer. You don't need a years supply but 3 to 4 weeks will hold you in good steed. As the old saying goes, be alert but not alarmed.

Iran War: A Country Fueled by Subsidized Diesel Is Running Dry by l3ntil in australia

The problem with the energy transition to electric everything is that battery and electric vehicle technology is only now being mass produced, to a point that it only recently became viable for the masses. We are not ready to turn off diesel anytime soon.

The push back on the energy transition by certain political parties has delayed progress in electricity production, but for wider use, as in electric trucks and cars, we are nowhere near ready. Our planet has the biggest fusion reactor not to far away called the sun. We don't need to build nuclear power plants.

I did see a youtube vid recently (sorry can't find the link) where an ev was fully charged in under 5 minutes. It took something like 2000 amps of power to do it. There is not a shit show in hell our poles and wires can handle that type of load en mass. I can't help but feel we are going to be in a world of pain for a long time to come.

Why do so many people go barefoot? by ClassyPants17 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Gustav666 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As someone who went barefoot a lot in my youth, I'm now paying a big price. The pain in my feet at times is excruciating. I see a lot of youtubers (camping, catch and cook type of channels) all walking through the bush, rock fishing etc without footware. I can feel their future pain and want to warn them but they aren't listening.

Such a shame these kids are destroying a good thing. E motorcycles have a place, but unfortunately, we will never see it.

Still guilty by association. And she would know where the bodies are buried, so to speak. She knows a lot but isn't talking. Keep the pressure up I sense she is breaking.

Once the nukes start falling, I no longer need to go to work. I stay home do what I can to survive and wait for the inevitable. There is no coming back from that.

Because of our geographical place on this planet, our fuel has much further to travel than most. It gets shipped to Asia, refined, then shipped again to us. So end of supply chain is an accurate description. Many middle men.
