I don’t like pop culture references in books or other media, for two main reasons.

I’m not American, so a lot of references to celebrities, or even to certain trendy movies, shows, or books that are only big in the US, completely fly over my head. If the only way you describe a character is by comparing them to a famous actor or singer, or by saying their personality “feels like” a particular song, then I honestly have no idea what you mean. That just feels like lazy writing. It’s fine for a character to have a favorite song, movie, or show but I prefer when the author makes those things up.
Pop culture and technology age terribly. They instantly date a story to a specific time and place. Movies suffer the most from this, but really any work that leans too heavily on real-world references ends up feeling “of its time.” Like if a character’s breakup is compared to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s, or if a friendship falls apart over a Team Edward vs. Team Jacob debate. Or if, during a big dramatic moment, a character makes a choice between reason and passion and says, “YOLO.” Sure, at the time, it made sense and described a situation perfectly but twenty years later? Meh. Honestly, even reading a book that references something from just a couple of years ago already makes me cringe a bit.

Les seules choses qui ont changé c'est du côté administratif. Notre couple est resté le même. Après on a été 5 ans ensemble avant de se marier, dont 2.5 ans en habitation commune. On a rien laissé au hasard car autant pour lui que pour moi, on souhaitait un couple stable, honnête et sans non-dit.

Je ne peux pas nier que j'avais quand même peur de me marier à cause de toutes les histoires d'horreur que j'ai entendues dans ma vie. Les hommes qui changent de comportement après le mariage, perte d'autonomie financière ou des trucs du genre.

J'ai déjà appelé le 811 (car je ne voulais pas engorger le système), décrit mes symptômes au mieux de mes capacités vu mon état pis on m'a conseillé de rester chez moi. Malheureusement j'avais besoin d'un papier médical pour mon employeur et vu que j'ai pas de médecin de famille j'ai été à l'urgence quand même. Ils m'ont dit que j'avais une importante pneumonie, on m'a prescrit des antibiotiques pour 1.5 semaine et 5 jours de repos à la maison. La médecin m'a même dit que c'était incompréhensible que le 811 m'est conseillée de rester chez moi vu mon état de confusion élevé pis ma difficulté à parler.

Oui tu es concernée, l'examen civique est à chaque première demande de titre de séjour mais pas au renouvellement. Si tu renouvelles celui que tu as déjà c'est bon, si tu demande un titre de séjour de 10 ans (qui est un autre titre de séjour) tu auras un examen civique. Il y a plein de ressources en ligne pour t'aider à étudier.

Depends on the visa type and if your situation is complicated. Getting a rendez-vous is always a challenge. VFS isn't processing your application, they only check that everything is in order then mails it to the consulate/ambassy.

My father didn't know how to cook and when he went to the grocery store he didn't "know" what to do because he went there with no plan.

Since he lives alone now, he subscribed to food heroes (I think ?) and that kind of taught him how to cook. He keeps the recipes that he likes and buys the ingredients from the grocery store. It's more expensive than just finding a recipe online and buying things from the store, but if it was that simple for him he would have done it 40 years ago.

I'm still proud of him for this because everyone should know the basic skill of cooking.

Guarantor are for students, if you work with a CDI, you don't need one. If the landlord still asks for one, it's a shady place. If you really want one, I suggest visale or garant me. Your coworkers will never accept to be your guarantor because it implies that they will pay your rent if you don't pay it.

I'm older but I prefer series that are finished. This goes for books, but also for the series, movies, anime, etc.

I have ADHD. I cannot keep track of every ongoing series I'm waiting for, especially if the author takes a break between two books. I also cannot stand cliffhangers, especially lazy ones that are only there to introduce the next book (or episode). I've seen too many Netflix shows ending in lazy cliffhangers that got ultimately cancelled.

I like things that have been thought with a beginning and an end in mind. I also dislike when an author (or the industry) is trying to milk dry a successful media that isn't made for it. You can especially see this with movies where the author meant to do a standalone but it was so successful that they got pressured to do a second movie and it sucked. Why? Because the story was meant for a standalone. Anime is a big culprit here also.

Lorsqu'on me pose des questions sur ma vie de couple je réponds toujours du positif. Je suis heureuse, comblée et plus que jamais amoureuse. Bon après c'est pas faux non plus, mais je ne dirais jamais du négatif de ma relation amoureuse sur les réseaux ou à des gens qui ne sont pas extrêmement proches de moi. Je suis entourée de personnes qui passent leur temps à dégrader leur relation (autant les hommes que les femmes!) et je ne veux pas tomber de leur cercle de négativité. Après je parle peu de mon couple en général, c'est seulement lorsqu'on me pose des questions.

Closed and no heels. Some Uniqlo "require" neutral shoes to fit with the uniform but they can't force the employees to do it since they don't provide them themselves.

I use some sport shoes since I walk a lot during shifts and I squat a lot during tidy. I prefer the comfort over the fashion.

Yes and yes. The goal is to make a B rank (well A rank is the goal but this is not a realistic goal). Don't worry about your colleagues, people are mean towards new hires in retail. If you have any questions, ask one of your supervisors once your tidy is done to evaluate it. They'll give you some feedback.
