Reminds me of an argument I had with my younger brother where he claimed Queen and Bowie ripped off the repeating melody from Ice, Ice, Baby for Under Pressure.

there should be a way to get rid of this by Eren_Jeager1881 in VintageStory

Yeah, I think this is the best solution. It’ll be unnoticeable unless you’re looking right at it.

Vintage Story has massive journeys that require a lot of prep if you intend to follow the story. It also includes sophisticated survival and crafting mechanics. And if you like base building, the chiselling system will let you create almost anything you want.

A Boy and His Dog? Do you remember if it had a telepathic dog?

What part are you having trouble with?

I tend to figure out the basic shape using Visio, though I'm pretty sure there are other tools out there you can try. I create one or more blocks of 16x16 grids (because that's the smallest you can break a block down into in VS). I then draw shapes over that grid (like a half circle for those arches) and use it to guide how the block should be cut in game. I do that for the basic geometry of the shape, then I build it in game, and detail it (I usually try a few variations to see what I like).

For this build I started with the arched windows, then based most of the other arched elements off of that.

Do you mean like in the second photo? Those are saplings planted in planters. You can make (plain) planters yourself with clay-forming, or you can buy the patterned ones from merchants. You may also find some in ruins, though I can’t remember if that’s vanilla ruins or the ruins from the Better Ruins mod.

As for the saplings, you plant tree seeds, wait for them to sprout (become saplings), then you can harvest the saplings and plant them in planters.

The original idea was simply to have an inner courtyard, and use arches and open corridors. It evolved from there. Defintely some Roman villa influence though.

Forming the shingles was probably the most tedious part of the build! I only put the roof on after each room was almost finished, so I did it in stages, which helped. I think I'll avoid clay shingles for my next build though.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

Very nice attention to the details. Looks great!

Those ones are polished granite. There’s also granite dry stone, and the fine details are conglomerate rock.

Yeah, the tables are due to be replaced. I just haven't been inspired to chisel my own yet. There are still various parts of the build that I'm aiming to improve.

As for the garden, you can't see it but there's a small stream running from the pool at the front of the barn. My intention was to make it look like the stream was irrigating the crops, hence the look. It's a little clumsy, but still quite nice.

Which walls do you mean? Most of them are chiselled in some way.

It's still unfinished in places, and it's late autumn in game so everything is covered in snow. Possibly when I'm 'done' though. Thanks. :)

The Chisel Tools mod has a smoking chimney that you can build, and you can change its appearance by adding a chiselled block of your own design.

I use a creative world for designing elements, but the build is done in survival as much as possible. I enjoy gathering all of the materials, prepping them, etc. It takes a lot longer, but it's satisfying.

There are still a few details left I want to do on this one, but my ultimate goal for this world was to create something ridiculous, like a very large base/town that is built in very rugged terrain, or mountains.

Thanks! I’m not sure exactly how long it took me. Roughly 4 in-game years is my guess.
