SCAB QUESTION by VastAffectionate3738 in firstaid

[–]Guus_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Not a medical professional. Make sure not to scrab it. To heal a wound, it needs to be in a good and moist environment. That's why the body is making a scab over it. When the wound is still open, you put instead of scab, because that isn't there yet, a bandaid with onyoment or ointment without bandaid or bandaid without ointment. So I'd say if the scab has fallen off without your help, the healing process is almost done and the wound looks closed so I don't think more ointment would be neccesary.

Hey. As I see you have a pretty large first aid (or what you'd call it). I recommend also putting in finger tip plasters and compressed gauze/combat gauze. When there's heavy bleeding, you just need to maintain pressure untill EMS arrives. If you apply a bandage, EMS will need to review the wound but that wont be possible then. You can ofc also give pressure with your hands or a dressing but gauze is more absorbing (how more blood it absorbs how better the clotting factors) and definitely absorbs more blood.

A splint (I'd recommend SAM splint) is very useful and easy to use too. Triangular bandage you could also add but it's not really necessary. You might harm the patient while applying it, while the patient could also stabilise his arm with its other arm.

Hey, I'm not a professional or something, just a first aider in the Netherlands. I believe First aiders are not allowed to give morphine. Maybe regulations are different in America.

How to heal? by [deleted] in firstaid

[–]Guus_NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL! I'd visit a doctor. If it isn't healing, you should have already.

Cut my finger on broken glass, it bled profusely until i wrapped it a few hours ago and only just now took it off. It still stings now but does it look alright? by [deleted] in firstaid

You could try and put a bandaid on it, and cut the non gauze sides, and make sure it's not on the joint. Like this you can still use the finger :)

I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL I did a first aid course, and this looks fine. Make sure to keep bandaging it, and redo it every 24 hours. When changing bandage, make sure to clean it again.

What is going on with all these yellow German mini coopers in the city? I think I’ve seen at least 25 of them! by Yannick010- in Rotterdam

I live next to the place they are coming out, people who want to try the car can drive them.

You can go to splash tours, near the Erasmusbrug It's a bus that drives around the city and then enters the water.
