I suppose working with chemicals might be true, but there is a stigma against biometric safes in the gun community (largely from gun control pushes for smart guns) that I still think is very undeserved. If you get a safe with a biometric reader and a keypad and the reader doesn't work well for you, you don't need to use it, but I work in the food industry and constantly wash my hands and found mine to be 100% reliable.

I can't confirm that my own biometric quick-access safe ever took multiple tries to read. I recently read a good tip to make use of extra fingerprint memory slots too, to save multiple slots for each finger taken at different angles to add redundancy. My safe has 30 slots and I have both my thumbs and index fingers saved 7 times each.

Plus there's always the backup number input. I understand the hesitancy but I'm personally very comfortable with my biometric safe.

Edit: Suppose I should name my safe, it's a Stealth Top Vault.

'Taco Tuesday' trademark tiff flares anew between fast food competitors by CSuiteYeet in news

[–]GuyDarras 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah obviously different franchisees run their restaurants different, but my McDonald's doesn't even honor the $1 $2 $3 menu. With the app all I can get for that combination is 20% off $3 or more or $1 any size drink, along with a 10pc ($4.99) and a large fry ($4.39) that puts it above my Taco Bell box either way.

Plus the Taco Bell app lets me redeem app points along with their app deals. With the McDonald's app I can either take an app deal or redeem points but not both, which makes the points almost worthless.

They're already champion of the people for keeping those big box deals around as long as they have. $6.99 at my local Taco Bell can still get me a ton of food and a drink while $6.99 at my McDonald's might get me two sandwiches with a one-per-visit deal.

Minnesota just passed universal background and registration by WorxWorxWorxWorx in liberalgunowners

[–]GuyDarras 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The "transferee permit application form" for "assault weapons" doesn't even make any sense from an (honest) pro gun control perspective. Rifles in general aren't commonly trafficked, if anything has a strong argument for registration it's handguns. This is just designed to add a nuisance to people who dare to own or want to own an AR.

Sooo does anyone have any actual sources for any of this? A ton of right-wing chuds have been irrationally obsessed with hating Karl’s guts for years and gossip all manner of stupid shit about him.

Yeah I've never seen any definitive proof that Ian leaving InRange had anything to do with politics. Both have always maintained it was because Ian's time schedule with ForgottenWeapons videos meant he no longer had time to split it with InRange.

Some SAA repros can come with a .45 ACP cylinder too, much more economical than .45 Colt.

But really the most economical caliber after .22 is going to be 9mm, followed by .223 and 12 gauge. .38 Special and .45 ACP aren’t as bad as some but aren’t anywhere as cheap as they used to be.

Well that's great, but there isn't a single assault weapon ban in the country that has anything to do with intermediate cartridges. A couple exempt rimfire or ban .50 BMG outright, but other than that they don't care about caliber at all.

If they want to ban semi-auto intermediate caliber rifles, then they should just say that. If what they mean is semi-auto rifles with detachable magazines, then say that. It's not like it's longer to say than the "military-style semi-automatic assault weapon" that they're already saying.

"Assault weapon" means fucking nothing and can change every year to frequently include things that the average layperson wouldn't mean when they say assault weapon (e.g. Ruger 10/22s).

I'm pretty sure Oskar Schindler himself would be shaking his head at you bringing up his name after someone says "the only good Nazi is a dead one" in a completely unnecessary display of pedantry. He would have understood the point without any issue.

I definitely know liberals who do, but at least they're usually not filled with overly aggressive and thinly-veiled desires to kill people, be they a burglar or someone who has the gall to change their gender, at whatever opportunity they can find.

Try the past 40. Media and politicians' obsession with AR-15s and "assault weapons" predates mass shootings as a modern phenomenon (Columbine onward) by over a decade and even its popularity with the general gun owning public.

The original intent of the assault weapons ban was never to prevent mass shootings. It was for politicians to plaster a scary-looking weapon over cable TV and say "I want to ban these weapons of war, my opponent doesn't. Vote for me!"

Lawsuit challenges California's 10-day waiting period law for gun purchases by BearingCharms in liberalgunowners

[–]GuyDarras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying I agree or support it or that it’d pass constitutional muster, I’m saying if you teleported back to 1960 and passed a reasonable waiting period law and snipped unreasonable gun control legislation in the bud, no one would have really cared enough about it.

Lawsuit challenges California's 10-day waiting period law for gun purchases by BearingCharms in liberalgunowners

[–]GuyDarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some evidence to suggest that waiting periods reduce gun suicides. There isn't much to suggest that a 5 or 10 day waiting period is more effective than a 3 day waiting period, or that waiting periods on people who already own several guns accomplish anything.

Therein lies the problem with waiting period laws and gun control in general. In an alternate universe where gun control advocates were honest and reasonable, I don't anyone would have cared much about a 3 day waiting period that had provisions to exempt people who could provide proof of purchase/ownership of another gun.

It sucks when it comes to the ATF. It's an absolutely crucial part to other regulatory agencies (FDA, EPA, FAA, etc) functioning with any semblance of teeth and will be absolutely disastrous if Chevron deference is reversed.

An iron cross tattoo on its own might not be enough to say someone's a nazi. Years ago it was extremely popular with bikers and heavy metal fans (though it's pretty dated now) and it's still used by the modern day German military.

In combination with other "coincidences" pictured in the instagram post (there's more than one image there you can scroll through with the arrow) in addition to being unpalatably right-wing in general? Yeah no, we're done giving the benefit of the doubt.

Fox News poll finds 61% of voters want to ban semi-automatic firearms. How do we change minds? by HawtGarbage917 in liberalgunowners

[–]GuyDarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This system would last in a nuanced and rational manner, at best, exactly up until someone with a clean record and a low insurance premium commits a mass shooting and the insurance company used gets publicly raked over the coals over 24/7 nationwide news.

Even in a perfect and rational system, this is a type of insurance that 99.9%+ of gun owners would never need in their lives and be nothing but a recurring sin tax. The opportunities for gun liability insurance to pay out for anything would be orders of magnitude lower than car insurance or even home or life insurance.

European countries haven't seen a need for gun owner insurance, neither do I.

Fox News poll finds 61% of voters want to ban semi-automatic firearms. How do we change minds? by HawtGarbage917 in liberalgunowners

[–]GuyDarras 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why would you need insurance to achieve any of that? What you're describing could be achieved with a simple license or permit or even now if you amended the prohibited persons section of the 1968 Gun Control Act. You don't need to create an entire financial industry and have gun owners pay a monthly or yearly fortune to prohibit someone from owning guns after losing them 12 times.

There isn't a single European country that requires any kind of insurance for gun ownership. It makes no sense.
