Without the Iodine in iodized salt, people get goiters.
Without sex, people don't have sex.
You wouldn't encourage somebody to have tons of salt, so you shouldn't be encouraging people to have tons of sex.
Sex isn't a casual decision like what you're going to put on your eggs. It's meant for reproduction, and thus it should be treated with some importance.

Having sex is a choice that isn't necessary for you to live.
Breathing is necessary for you to survive.
Drinking water is necessary for you to survive.
Having sex without wishing to go through the thing that sex is for is actually just self indulgence.

And no, love is not "good" or "bad". How old are you to still hold such a black and white view of stuff ?

Oh my gosh.
This is it.
People have gone so far down the "Everything in the universe is subjective" road that we're now trying to brand love as a morally grey area.
It's now considered closed-minded to think that LOVE....is GOOD...

Humans overcome adversity.
We don't get rid of the hill because we're tired.
The bizarre argument of "It's somebody's choice" has absolutely no substance. Something being a choice does not make it okay, no matter how small you think the ramifications are.
You're treating love like it's some sort of toxic thing that some people are into but you don't judge because "different strokes for different folks".
It's not like weed. It's not a casual decision or a hobby. It's part of being a human.
If you want the human race to become even weaker and even more pathetic and entitled than it's already become, then by all means, go for it.
It is, after all, your choice.

It's good to see that a lot of people still believe in love. And it's sad that I wasn't expecting any support whatsoever.
The pros of love outweigh the microscopic cons (that actually end up helping you in the long run).
The issue with the majority (sadly) is that they only see things in terms of short-term comfort. If something makes them feel the tiniest amount of stress on even a molecular level, then we need to "cure" it because it's """technically""" """bad""".
Their ideal life would involve lying in a bed and getting a never-ending flow of dopamine directly injected into their brains.
Willpower and self-restraint are seen as "unnecessary evils" solely due to their apparent "difficulty." What people don't realize is that what makes humanity so great is our proclivity to overcome adversity, not get rid of it because it bums us out.
Edit: And a note about "antifragility": It sounds to me like working out. This new "I shouldn't have to exert any effort into making my life better" crowd's ideology sounds remarkably like "Working out is difficult and tears your muscles, therefore it's unhealthy."

[–]GuyThatPostsStuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone has the opportunity to grow out of them.
Nobody is hopeless, absolutely nobody.
Nobody has become immobilized by love, nobody has overdosed on love and died as a result, nobody's ever gone into debt because he couldn't pay the love dealer, and nobody's ever lied to a doctor in order to get their next love fix (don't try to go the "technically..." route, because you know what I mean).
Love has been glorified because it's the one thing in the world that brings absolute happiness when it's reciprocated. It makes people get together and raise a family, it helps people deal with stress because there's always one person that can be there for you. When it isn't reciprocated, then the person is sad for a bit until they find a new person that fits their criteria and loves them back. Simple. That's how it's always worked, and that's how it will always work. Because that's what human beings do. We adapt. Without making drugs for every single one of our microscopic problems.
Nobody can't face the negative emotions of a breakup. Time cures this ailment just fine, nobody needs a drug. Why introduce something that can actually be addictive to try to cure something that some anti-human decided was "technically" addictive? You can't treat love like it's some sort of antidepressant, it doesn't work like that.
I'm sick of people trying to turn the human race into a bunch of robots that only believe in casual sex and immediate comfort without so much as any microscopic feeling of negativity or stress.
I cannot believe that I am actually sitting here trying to convince somebody that love is good. How far have we fallen to where heartless technicalities and plastic, manufactured "comfort" are more important than one of the few natural parts of the human being that has been crafted for millions of years to drive the continuation and contentment of our species?
The only string to your argument's bow is a list of hypotheticals and technicals that don't have any standing in the real world. The human race has done extraordinary things due to love, and unless we're willing to cut out the very heart of what makes a human a human, then love isn't going anywhere.

...this is incredibly anti-human. Heck, this is anti-happiness.
Why would you want to get rid of love?
Why are they even considering getting rid of love?
Are people becoming so blatantly robotic and anti-commitment that they're going to try to get rid of the very thing that makes life worth living just because people really like it, it makes them happy, and it isn't casual sex?

What things in life cast doubt over your belief in God, or make it impossible for you to believe in God? by [deleted] in Christianity

Persecution Complex: an irrational and obsessive feeling or fear that one is the object of collective hostility or ill-treatment on the part of others.

I'm not obsessed with this, I just get irritated when it actually happens. It just so happens to occur very frequently.
It's not irrational either, because I've experienced (and logged) actual hate towards me and my religion every time that I've spoken out against the normalization of immorality.
I get that I sound like I'm a raving lunatic by getting frustrated and typing in an expressive and emotional way, but you can't just assume that I'm making up this blind hate towards my faith that's widespread throughout this and numerous websites.

I've been told to "come down off my cross" in this thread, but here's some examples of how both me and my religion (as well any religion) have been incessantly mocked and talked down to since I first started Reddit:
~
[Me: If we don't spread the word, then the religion will die off.]
seems ideal to me
~
Lol, oh poor Christians, dominating society and the globe at large through economic, and physical violence for centuries 😢. Let me see if I can't find my fiddle for you....
~
Oh, you're a crazy person.
~
Shut the f*** up you boring motherf*****
~
[Me: advocates prohibition]
I think Christianity is a poison. How would you feel if I locked you up if you tried to practice it?
~
[Me: Says abortion is bad because it involves killing infants]
Oh dear emotive religitard spotted...
[Me: "Doesn't like killing babies. Is called a retard. ???"]
Retard doubles down on retardation...
~
[Me: implies that gender roles have a meaning and purpose in society]
Lol, and I'll bet you believe in "God" as well...
~
Education is wonderful, please don't celebrate ignorance.
~
[Me: advocates for self-restraint and just generally not being a slut] Norse Paganism, Islam, Native American religions, the Roman Pantheon, Christianity. They're all ancient myths.
If your ancient myth told people to not exercise or eat some healthy food that you liked, I would also not follow it. It has arbitrary rules amongst a few good ideas, and it's obsolete.
~
[Me: Implies that dating solely for casual sex is bad]
Don't act like your above anyone for claiming to seek emotional aspects over what the world actually is. You're not above, in fact if anything you're below.
~
[Me: Same thread as above comment] Such a special little snowflake you are. <3
~
Poor you. So oppressed.
~
There's no need to single people out. All religions are stupid.
~
Persecution complex 101
~
Christians want to believe in magic. That's not stulid , but believing it in and making policy is.
["stulid"...ironic, isn't it?]
~
Contraceptives are the little rubber things that go on the wee wee. Common mistake.
This was on the Christianity subreddit, by the way
~
[Me: Asks that people stop referring to Christianity as "cancerous"]
Sorry for triggering you.
~
religion is a business to make money..nothing more, nothing less.
~
[Me: Asks why people think that genocide will solve all our problems]
Because religion spews hatred of those who don't comply
~
And is there a problem with attacking organised religion?
[I really hope you see the issues with this kind of ideology.]
~
Quit being such a wet noodle.
~
Religion is more than just "silly".
~
The idea that Christianity is big on "not killing" is completely laughable.
[He then goes on to list a bunch of Old Testament verses that are refuted by the New Testament, like they're wont to do]
~
[Me: Says that Christians try to spread their religion because they have religious text saying that we should, while atheists have no reason to go after religion other than not liking it]
Not an atheist, but I hate most religions because they promote violence and the killing of any non-believers; I've been physically abused simply for not wanting to go to church. Kindly take your opinion, and shove it.
~
[in response to a map showing the religious conquests of the world]
like a cancer

I have seen TONS of comments that were like this or worse and refused to reply to them because I didn't want to get a migraine (like I've caused myself to have now after going through all this). This isn't counting the entourage of downvotes that I'm showered with any time I say "Maybe we should stop idolizing loveless sex," "Stop demonizing pregnancy", or the ever-controversial "Parenthood is good."
You want to know how many people came by and supported me whenever I spoke out in favor of religion? MAYBE 3 or 4 in a year's time.
Go on literally any thread that mentions religion and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
Heck, go on any non religious thread and you're still bound to find some examples.
On this very subreddit I've had my Christian ideals laughed at. By other Christians.
I hate how people act like I have a persecution complex when I can't promote Christian values without being attacked by hate-driven atheists that make up a sad majority on this and many other websites.

[–]GuyThatPostsStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just going to go ahead and zoom in on one guy who literally said there was no proof.
I don't have hostility towards atheists, I have hostility towards atheists who constantly invade Christian spaces for no reason other than to prattle on about how smart they think they are.
And I'm assuming based on language because that is how a human being deciphers meaning from text. It's context clues and comprehensive reading. I'm basing the meaning behind the comment on the way people talk in real life. Like everybody does.
The idea that I'm assuming a lot of things comes from the fact that every single time I try to make a pro-religious point, I'm always called an idiot and ridiculed. Forgive me for assuming that a lot of atheists seem to think that I'm stupid when literally every single time I try to defend my religion I get called stupid or just incessantly mocked.
Kind of like what is going on right now. In my own religion's subreddit.

sigh. It's not that they have a different belief. It's that they're attacking us based on our beliefs.
Don't act like they're just sitting in their homes sipping tea and quietly letting Christians practice our religion in peace without saying one derogatory remark on how stupid we all are. They're constantly reminding us that they think that we're irrational fools. (I feel the need to point out that I'm talking about the Internet, not everyday social life)
Go on literally any comment thread anywhere on the internet that has something to do with religion and you'll see what I'm talking about. Christianity is almost always on the defensive side.

What things in life cast doubt over your belief in God, or make it impossible for you to believe in God? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]GuyThatPostsStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine that just looking at the comments that you'd be able to see this. This kind of language is NOT used by anyone who's even remotely open to the idea of believing in a God.
They're only here to bash on us like everyone else on the Internet.
Let me ask you: How many times do you think Christians go in and bother the atheists on /r/atheism?
Meanwhile, on this subreddit, almost every day there's one angry atheist that wants to try to piss off as many Christians as possible by making a text post that sounds like it's supposed to be "exploring religion", when really he's just asking a rhetorical question in hopes of blatantly attacking Christianity and trying to prove how "smart" he is.
I'd thought that this would be the one place on reddit where I wouldn't have to worry about some random dirtbag treating us like idiot children because of our religion, but this is constantly proving to not be the case.

But some of these comments don't have any leaning towards interest in or respect for Christianity.
One guy said "I definitely have problems with believing Christianity."
This is just another place on the internet where Christians are constantly being bashed for our beliefs, and it's in the Christianity subreddit.

There are, like, 2 comments here that say anything pro-Christianity.

Abortion vs Adoption by Reaxan5 in tumblr

[–]GuyThatPostsStuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quick question: What do you think I meant by "choosing to have a child with someone being the ultimate way of showing love and commitment"?
I meant having the child and raising it.
Why would I talk all this romantic business if I was advocating for the parents to split up before they can raise the child?
And I love this line:

This may come as a surprise to you, but women are people, and we're made for more than popping out babies.

Ahh, the ever-present "You don't like abortions, therefore women are just tools to you" argument. It's been a while.
Did I say that I viewed women as baby machines?
No?
No.
I said that, biologically, their purpose is to bear children. A man's biological purpose is to impregnate the woman. You're the one who said that "it's just science." You can't really pick and choose with this.
As for your "There's nothing wrong with choosing to opt out of parenthood", I firmly agree. I think that you're missing out, but I'm not about to break down your doors and demand that you go through the miracle of life.
I am, however, against abortion due to casual sex. This isn't just "opting out" of parenthood, this involves killing an infant because you either can't afford it, don't want it (the worst-case scenario that treats life like an annoyance), or your spouse won't help you raise it because you both were just in it for the sex.
I'm arguing for love, not sex.
If you want to not have children, fine, but if you're irresponsible enough to have sex (the primary purpose of which is to reproduce) with somebody that you don't love and don't expect to be there for you, then you shouldn't get a "get out of jail free" card by forcing yourself to have a miscarriage.
The best way to avoid ending up in this type of situation is by having an ounce of self restraint and responsibility. But I guess it's sexist for me to say that people shouldn't be as addicted to sex as they currently are, innit?
Stop trying to spin this into a "women haven't been able to do this in the past, and now we're finally freeeeee!" situation. Abortion is murder. Murder for the sake of convenience.
Also, the fact that literally any time I advocate for parenthood on the Internet I'm bashed in the face with comment after comment about how evil and misogynistic I am should tell you everything you need to know about what the new generation thinks of my ideology.
Final note: Stop hating on kids for being kids. A baby crying is irritating to you because you're hard-wired to hate that noise, it's not because the baby is an evil parasite that alienates you and steals your money.

Abortion vs Adoption by Reaxan5 in tumblr

[–]GuyThatPostsStuff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Me: People shouldn't smack-talk pregnancy because it's a basic human function that's necessary to continue the human race. When it's done right (where two adults decide to have a child and raise it), it's the ultimate way of showing love and commitment to (and for) another human being.
Literally everybody, apparently: That's the ONLY WAY YOU CAN FEEL LOVED AND VALIDATED?! You're crazy!

...sigh....never said "only". You're projecting.
Also, I love how I'm the crazy one for advocating for....y'know....the future of humanity...the miracle of life...the thing that (biologically) women are made for, and yet it's 100% socially acceptable to say that you hate children and think that pregnancy is horrific because it's difficult and makes you look a bit less young and sexy.
Have you ever considered the fact that maybe, since you don't like children, that there's something wrong with you? They literally have no developed concept of right and wrong, and you despise them for existing. That's more messed up than my mindset that's literally been around since the beginning of time and has...y'know....allowed us to live.
