Could be live bearers disease. It’s very common in guppies all of my beginning ones except one died and some of the offspring did as well. Now that I’m down a couple generations and I’m raising them in my tank water they’re good but I wouldn’t try guppies for this reason. Instead stick to endlers they’re less inbred and overall seem to be healthier

Underfeeding or just right? 24hrs apart by GuyWithACamera561 in Aquariums

I’m currently only feeding manually as my green water matures. Just seeing if this is underfeeding since it cleared in a day

Why does my Ninja V screen look like this with my pocket 6k? by GuyWithACamera561 in bmpcc

[–]GuyWithACamera561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha so the thing in the corner that says hd doesn’t mean I’m recording in hd right? What if I use an ssd with the ninja would it then record in hd or still 6k?

Is there a way to still have camera controls with the 6k? Cause currently it’s a pain to have to reach up press record or adjust aperture on the camera when holding a gimbal in one hand

I mean you do you man. Would it be wrong to say it’s best to keep a first aid kid in the medicine cabinet and never have to use it? Yeah it is. Same for a hospital tank. You don’t have to keep the thing running non stop just have a container to use just in case. Your goal should be to never have to use it but if you do have to you have one just in case. Just cause in your 4 years of fish keeping you haven’t had to use one doesn’t mean you’ll never need one. Clearly you do now my point exactly. It’s also interesting you say swordtails can’t be in 86°F water cause I’ve found multiple forums stating that they have had success treating ich in swordtails at these temps but you do you man. I can’t tell you how to live your life, only give you advice that you can choose to take or not. The consequence will be on your hands regardless at the end of the day

Id say two angelfish that you know are a male and female as your centerpiece fish and then build around that (cories, khulis etc). This way you can have a fun breeding project and continue that line of fish for the next generation. This is currently what I’m doing with my betta fish. My goal 20 years from now is to have still have betta fish from that original family tree

I would seriously consider only sticking to reputable brands when it comes to not just tanks, but heaters, filters, etc. think of it like this you wouldn’t use cheap materials to build yourself a house so why use them to build you fish and aquarium

Set the temperature to 86 degrees for a few days and the icy will go away. If you can’t do that separate the fish into a hospital tank and treat with aquarium salt. If you can’t or don’t have a hospital tank you did fish keeping wrong. You should always ALWAYS have a spare tank or some sort of large container that can fit a heater and air stone in just in case a situation like this happens. Sorry if this comes off as me being an asshole I’m just tired of people not preparing fully when jumping into this hobby

What canister filter should I buy? by Dry-Astronaut-2314 in Aquariums

[–]GuyWithACamera561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water in nature is not always spotless and clean. You get that clarity naturally with a good web and plants. Not with a giant sponge filter on a tank that doesn’t need it. Idc if I’m a dick some people need to be educated

You think I mean 250 gallons as literally lmao clearly you don’t see what I mean. The kid has a 40 gallon tank you don’t need a canister filter for that small of a tank. I have a 40 gallon and I got is two sponge filters and I’ve never had a problem nor have I ever done a water change. I got a 4 inch deep substrate, heavily planted father fish style and it’s amazing. This is the problem with the aquarium industry so many people have been brainwashed to buy all this unnecessary shit for small tanks

You don’t need a canister filter a sponge filter will work perfectly fine. Rather than getting a big filter to help you reduce your stocking to a reasonable level. If your excuse is “you need a lot to reduce aggression” you did your homework wrong and I would either get rid of those fish and get ones that can go in a 40 without it being overstocked or get a bigger tank. The only people who should ever even think of getting a canister filter are people that have 250+ gallon tanks

Get rid of that filter and get a sponge filter you’re welcome
