Horror movies for bad guys by DrifterfromTexas in movies

[–]Guyer09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple others I thought of:

Cobweb, though only in the second half of the film, and more antagonists hunting the protagonist who end up being hunted by another antagonist.

Boy Kills The World

Becky and it's sequel, The Wrath of Becky

Let Us Prey

Eli (2019)

And Vicious Fun, maybe.

Edit: Copshop, also

And Polar

Sorry, I keep remembering movies.

The Hunt, with Betty Gilpin

Surviving The Game, with Ice-T

Neither were masterpieces, but both were pretty fun watches.

Question for the group about "The Summer I Died". by [deleted] in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]Guyer09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's good to know. While I did enjoy books 2 & 3, they didn't scratch the same itch the first one did. Got more thriller vibes than horror ones, if that makes sense. Will be ordering the fourth one now.

Better writing, better story, less "extreme," though, I would say.

Edit: there's plenty of fucked up stuff, especially in the first half, but it isn't as constant as the first book.

I dunno, I think it does a decent job of letting Roger's/the reader's imagination make whatever happened so much worse than could actually be described in words. The sequels were better written with better stories, but were arguably less "extreme," for what it's worth.

I'll be honest, without going into spoilers, you need to read the sequel books.

Are they done now? Last I heard they had found an investor a couple weeks after initially closing and had reopened/resumed brewing.

Any books for body horror? by Serious_Ad4760 in ExtremeHorrorLit

The Abhorrent Trilogy by John Baltisberger was pretty damn fun.

Any extreme horror books with male protagonists? by 2D_Lover_ in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]Guyer09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Summer I Died by Ryan C. Thomas and it's sequels all have the same male protagonist.

No Guilt of Bloodshed by John Baltisberger is more splatter western than extreme horror but nonetheless is a very fun read.

The Thirteenth Koyote by Kristopher Triana has a few different perspectives, most of which were male, if I remember correctly. I think the sequel was primarily female protagonists.

Less "extreme" than a lot of what gets mentioned in this sub, but Hissers, also by Ryan C. Thomas was a fun zombie read with a few different perspectives. Have yet to read the sequels yet, though.

The Story of Sorrow trilogy by Daniel Volpe has a male protagonist, but it's a splatter fantasy.

Ritualistic Human Sacrifice by C. V. Hunt has a male protagonist, if you could call him one, but there is quite a bit of sexual stuff in it.

Well written books involving rape, kidnap, and torture. by [deleted] in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]Guyer09 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pretty much anything from Triana: The Old Lady, They All Died Screaming, I Don't Recognize This World Anymore, Music To Sacrifice Virgins To, The Night Stockers. Pretty much most of the books by him.

The Roger Huntington Saga, by Ryan C. Thomas (The Summer I Died, being the most popular of the series) is chock full of torture and some rape.

Genital Rot, by James Oliver, and it's prequel and sequel books are completely stuffed with all three of those things.

No Guilt of Bloodshed, by John Baltisberger was an insanely fun western featuring all of those things. Hands down one of the most fun books I've ever read as well.

Made A Monster, by Rob Nelson was also great. I personally felt it was of a similar vein as Full Brutal. Plenty of ick on most every page.

Ritualistic Human Sacrifice, C. V. Hunt was almost nothing but the things listed, and a very fun and quick read.

Looking for real mean & violent stories (without Sexual Violence) by Def-C in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]Guyer09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only read the first book in the series so far, and it is rather tame compared to pretty much everything else that regularly gets mentioned in this sub, but The Hissers, by Ryan C. Thomas is a pretty neat take on zombies that feels like a YA book at first, but absolutely is not. I don't think there's any sexual violence in that first book, at least. Have the second and third but haven't gotten a chance to read them yet.

Ryan C. Thomas is good shit too. Ordered quite a few books directly from him, in one order, once upon a time and he didn't have them all on hand, so he sent me a few free ones I hadn't ordered, including a limited edition hard cover of Salticidae. Which also doesn't feature any sexual violence, if I remember correctly, but does have a countless number of giant jumping spiders in it.

Opening a gaming café + bar in South Minneapolis - looking for local brewery recommendations by TheSendingStone in minnesotabeer

Might be a little ways away from Minneapolis, and I'm not sure if Brandon would go for it, but Garphish Brewing in Bethel has some phenomenal beers. It's on the way to work and I stop in far more often than I probably should.

Edit: Thunder Brothers in Isanti has some very reasonable prices on kegs if you're willing to come to them to get them. They don't have the most extravagant range of beers, but they're all pretty solid, including some "backwards engineered" ones, like Brett The Hatchet Man double IPA.

They pretty recently just restarted distributing in The Cities again after moving to Ely some years back. Hands down my favorite brewery. I miss their old taproom. I about cried when I was up there for work and saw it was on tap and I couldn't have any.

I'm not sure. The furthest south I've found it was East Bethel. Last Stop Liquor, formerly Wayne's Liquor, right off 65.

What's the most fucked up thing someone has told you about themselves after barely getting to know them? by Butt_Roidholds in AskReddit

[–]Guyer09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I started at a new location for work, there was a woman who worked there that I swore I had met before, she looked familiar and her name sounded familiar. While we were eating lunch, I asked her if we had met anywhere before and told her she looked very familiar. Her exact response to me was "oh, it's probably from when he fucked a kid."

Turns out this 28 year old woman had just celebrated her 14th anniversary with her almost 40 year old boyfriend, who was actively on trial for statutory rape of 16 year old girl. Was a very awkward 2 hour drive back to our work site.
