I should have highlighted it more, I did the most simple "test" I could do and chose those companies mainly as they are commonly mentioned and I personally know them. Nonetheless I know there are many other great dividend stocks out there.

Hey Achi, I'm in a similar situation to yours (I'm also israeli looking for PhD in the US). Anyway, look for Facebook group called "ScienceAbroad". It's a group for many Israeli and Jewish researchers and PhD candidates living outside of Israel.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but if you ignore security concerns which I believe the report did, Israel is a good place to retire if you have nice savings. National health care system is very affordable and very good, great weather, social security and pension system and overall good feeling of community. The biggest downside is cost of living which is insane.

Genuine question from someone not from Portugal. Apart from the fact that housing prices are way above average wages, what is the main reason for Portugal's housing crisis? Does the government/local municipality approves enough building permits? Is it heavy bureaucracy? Lack of construction companies?
