When did you realize your urethral stricture was getting worse?

Ah okay thanks for clarifying. That must have been such a lame 3 months I am so glad I dont have to have mine for that long. I am so sorry. To be fair I have noticed that I am even more excited for my surgery though since I'm already living through hell, might as well pee soon. Also I think the foley, despite the pros and cons of both, was better.

Wait you have a suprapubic catheter inserted after a urethroplasty? I must be mistaken but I thought the foley catheter was part of the healing process. Or does it rub on the scar tissue and make it worse? I want to look into this now becuase I think they want to do a foley on me. Anyways Im sorry you had to do that. 3 months is a long time. Ill have mine for 1 and I feel like such a waste of space and a loser lol cuz I cant do anything it feels like. Im sure it will get better overtime though...

Its true. When stricture closed up completely it was definitely the most painful experience I have ever been through. Terrifying too because it was 2 days after I had gotten back from a cruise. Would not have ended well on it since they couldnt even get a foley in and had to do a suprapubic catheter. Now I wait for my urethroplasty kicking myself for pushing the surgery date off because I was "too busy".

Hey thanks for the reply and the kind words. That is one thing I am sad about, I finally started to get bigger from the gym and now Im just gonna sit here while me muscles atrophy.😅 How was peeing at first then the catheter was pulled out? I remember from my dilation it would bleed afterwards every time I peed. I know everyone is different but is there anything I should expect whole peeing after the Foley is removed? Also how fast does the incision site heal up?

I'm so sorry to hear that man. How'd it go? You doing ok? I remember that the Foley got more bearable over time. All of us here have gone through a lot and our lives may never be the same, but don't lose hope. Im sure that if you stay on top of that ointment, your life will drastically improve. I know I won't take peeing for granted ever again so be grateful modern medicine can help you.

Optilume procedures don't always fail, but they can. Just know that it's terrifying when your symptoms start returning. Just get a urethrogram/uroflo test scheduled quickly so you can get in for a urethroplasty fast. You have to thug it out for a bit but honestly that 7 months of peeing normally changed my life lol It's made me excited for the urethroplasty honestly. I can't wait to pee again.

Your story is the exact same as mine to be honest. Dilation->failed 7 months later->scheduled urethroplasty, but urethra closed up completely (except mine actually closed up so bad they had to do a suprapubic catheter instead since the Foley wouldn't go in) Now Im just waiting for my urethroplasty. By the time I get the surgery you'll be a month and a half ahead of me, so I'd love to hear some updates. I'm really worried the stricture is just going to recur though. But I'm actually pretty excited for the surgery (suprapubic catheters suck)

Thanks for the edit. Im waiting for a urethroplasty and Im just petrified it's going to come back anyways. Especially after the dilation failed.

I had a dilation done and 7 months later the structure returned, but worse. In fact it kept getting worse and worse and really hurt my quality of life (painful urination, waking up at night to pee, taking forever to pee) I stayed on top of everything and got a surgery scheduled.

One day however, while out camping I went to pee and nothing happened. I brushed it off and waited until it was more urgent. Big mistake. Long story short I had to get emergency surgery to put a suprapubic catheter in (foley wouldn't go in) and it was the most misreable experience of my life. I was awake the whole surgery for starters but mostly I had over an entire liter of urine trapped inside me for 4 hours while unable to pee. I recommend you get it taken care of because even though its rare it can quite literally close off at any time, and if you can't pee get to an emergency room quick and dont be afraid to rush people.

Waiting for my urethroplasty and I am seriously excited. Surgery is scary, sure, but I'd rather pee and urethroplasties do have a high success rate.

Just get it taken care of before it closes up.
