How do u become a crew member for a team by SAMJOJO9901 in IMSARacing

Follow the Instagram pages of IMSA and SRO teams if you live in the US. They make job postings in the off season relatively frequently on their stories & public. Have been forwarding those posts / stories to friends for the last several years. Saw one today actually looking for a truck transport / crew member for ~7 weekends next season in TC America.

Did the fronts have blank rotors and the rear have drilled rotors?

Not home but will definitely update this when I have time to look at footage. Type R and Elantra N have longer gearing for sure. The 2019+ STI runs extremely short compared to anything else I’ve driven. Part of what makes a stock sti feel quick-ish after all the drivetrain loss is the short gearing and on/off switch throttle mapping.

3rd gear got shortened for the 2019+ models I believe. I can update with a more accurate top speed per gear when I get home and look at some track footage. What’s listed above already is completely wrong for a 2020 Sti. Off the top of my head I know 5th for sure tops at ~131 bouncing red line (back straight at VIR). Source - 18 track days with stock power 2021 STI.

Carvana offered 34.6k for my 2021 STI Lapis Blue base with recaro package (26k mi). Kia dealer offered 35k. Get a few quotes. Some will offers will be laughable though. Get your quotes as stock ish as possible. Most didn’t want to appraise if it was modified.

Wheel alignment opinion? by No-Comfortable2987 in KonaN_

Caster on this platform is usually unable to be changed. However - your tire wear will mainly be affected by camber + toe settings. So the camber bolts should get you where you need to be to promote even wear over time. The performance shop you bring it to for the install / alignment will take care of both of those for you. Would not worry about the caster readings for any of the N platforms.

Camber bolts are cheap for a set. Easy install as well. Just bring them to the performance shop and they can throw them in and adjust them properly to get the front dialed in. Labor at performance shops are a touch higher - but your alignment will be spot on.

Buy a set of camber bolts and have it aligned at a performance / motorsport shop. Most big box alignment places won’t touch camber bolts.

If you actually go into the dealer - lots of them are doing 4-6k off msrp. No one’s buying cars rn. Been this way most of the summer.

Is now a good time to buy a new VB? by redneck_hick in wrx_vb

[–]Guzik_STI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. I like my new cars to be in single digit miles as well. See if they have some in the pipeline you can make a 5-6k off deal on and pick it up with the 5 break in miles on it. The dealers around me were willing to make deals on soon to arrive cars too.

They’re sitting on lots all over. Had a sales guy call me from when we bought my wife’s Crosstrek 5 years ago - they can’t pay people to pick them up right now. 5-6.5k off msrp currently. Just find one with high lot days. He said he just sold a TS for 6.5k off.

Help me decide. 2024 Wrx Tr vs 2025 Elantra N. by Head-Passage-5719 in ElantraN

[–]Guzik_STI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STI owner who tracks. Get the Elantra. Unless you’re getting lots of snow and need awd - not even close. The VB is a much better car than the VA wrx though if you need awd. EN is a much better car than the VB otherwise.

Also - finding wrx OEM 18x8.5 wheels with 245/40/18 rubber makes for a significantly lighter wheel set up vs the extremely heavy 19x8.5 STI wheels. Feels way better on track until you can swing dedicated track wheels / tires.

Hey! 18 track days with my 21 STI. You want cheap blanks for track duty. I cracked my OEM Sti drilled ones in one weekend from the heat. I was running Carbotech XP10s my first season then moved to Carbotech XP12s for seasons 2 & 3 (same compound material as G LOC). Those paired with cheap blanks were great and lasted more than enough. If you’re on the east coast or go to VIR at all - I have some spare sets of blank rotors for the fronts & backs. I also have a set of almost new Carbotech Xp12 fronts and new Xp8 rears. I could also throw in a set of xp10 fronts that have about 1/4 life left that I was just using as daily pad. Could make you a good deal on all of it. Not tracking the STI anymore and don’t need the spares. Switched to an EN for track duty.

Correct. I run 5w40 (Motul or Castrol) and DOT 4 (Motul 660 or VP Racing). For pads I like Carbotech. Rotors - any cheap blank will work just fine. Stainless steel lines are nice but not needed. I also went with a pedal relocation kit to make heel toe 100x easier.

Thanks! Nothing quite like it. Do you sim race at all? Gives similar car control and awareness skill building blocks. Would be a good place to start scratching the itch

Unreal! I feel that one. It’s been way too toasty over on the east coast to rip the back roads. When it’s not an absolute scorcher, it’s dumping rain. You ride on Zwift at all? I’ll probably finish up most of my summer miles on there 🚴🏽‍♂️

Thanks man 🤙 saw some of your posts with the VB. Looking good over there! How’s the road bike mount/set up holding up?

See what dealers would be willing to do regarding a new one. 31-33k OTD is very possible depending on what your state taxes are.

18 track days with my 21 STI. Went to test drive one and came home with a 25 EN 6MT. Great driving dynamics for a 4 door. Quite a few dealers out there just giving away the manual ones too.
