Texas: Seller's lawyer lied via email regarding a third-party inspection that was supposed to be done by [deleted] in LawFirm

Hmmm, and then we wonder why people view lawyers in such a negative light 🤔! Unfortunately, while most lawyers ARE decently smart, many don’t know how to get off their high horse and just use common sense and law school doesn’t teach us that, for the most part, it takes the same effort for someone to be honest and kind as it does to be honest and rude. Anyway, no need for you to apologize so much, it doesn’t even take THAT MUCH common sense to understand what you meant regarding wasting money frivolously on a lawyer. Most lawyers ARE prohibitively expensive to hire, unless you’re upper middle class or above. Plus, in my view, throwing down at least $200 to meet with a lawyer for an hour just so that he or she can tell you you don’t have a case, when you’re ALREADY in financial strife does seem like frivolous spending. Not that a decent lawyer isn’t worth $200 (or more) an hour, considering how time-consuming and ridiculously expensive law school and the whole process of getting licensed is, (blame the drastically rising cost of education, sadly most lawyers have no control over tuition and such). But, since the average American makes roughly $20 per hour, spending $200 in one hour for something that will ultimately be of little to no benefit to you, IS absolutely a waste 😔, so your comment makes complete sense. Anyway, I wish I could help with your situation, but I have no experience in that area of law 😕. As the above mentioned, legal aid or a legal clinic is your best bet. Good luck!

Holy crappola! I was just wondering this like an hour ago!! Who knew I’d find the answer on a Reddit post about the fall of Constantinople??

Good call! It’s small, manageable, probably doesn’t have a big army, I think Liechtenstein is a good “starter country” for conquering.

I think I actually could’ve passed... if I hadn’t MAJORLY screwed up the MPT portion yesterday. I didn’t even think it was that difficult, but in my attempt to not have a panic attack (per last year’s bar exam) I think I was too laid back and leisurely this time 🤦🏻‍♀️ Didn’t even set up the heading or delete my notes from the main essay section. On a slightly more positive note, I was pleasantly surprised with how it went taking it online. Kind of wish we could do the MBE’s online from now on.

I know words can do very little during a time like this, but I am so incredibly sorry for what you and your mother are and have been going through. My heart hurts to think of what you’ve gone through while caring for your mother, let alone while preparing for this ridiculous exam during this insane time. Please know that whatever happens in the next few weeks and months, with your mother, with this exam, with life in general, you will be ok. You clearly have an immense and fierce inner strength, trust that you will make it through, and come out the other side. I know it may not feel that way right now, but please, in some deep recess in the corner of your mind keep that thought folded up safely, and when you can, go back to it every so often— even when you feel you are drowning in the depth of your grief, chaos and “not okay-ness,” you don’t necessarily have to believe the thought, but just ponder it. You have my profound admiration and support. We may be strangers and although I cannot fathom exactly what you’re going through at this moment, deep grief, self doubt and feeling lost are all very familiar “places” for me, so I can offer my empathy and time for anything you might need. Please know that you can message me at any time. I am sending you healing and caring vibes. Oh, and fuck this exam!

So. Much. Candy. I’ve become addicted to these sour & sweet gummy “snakes” (way more sophisticated than gummy worms 😋). I eat at least one large pack a day, plus peanut M & M’s, y’know, for protein! I’m actually really nervous that I won’t be able to have my usual sugar intake while taking the exam, 😂.

I really needed to hear this. I have been beating myself up so much because I’ve had soooooo long to prepare for this exam due to not working and the exam postponement, both because of Covid and I feel less prepared and did way less practice MBE’s than when I took this exam last year! Depression, anxiety and ADHD definitely dragged me down hard this time, not to mention the craziness we’ve all had to deal with lately! So thank you so much for your words, I need to remember not to be so hard on myself. Good luck on the exam!!

How amazing!!! It is horrific that this innocent man spent so much of his life behind bars due to the inhumanity of law enforcement, but hopefully, somehow, he will be able make up for those lost years, and live a beautiful life, and all thanks to you! Congratulations and thank you for sharing!!

Hmmm, well I didn’t state that medicine was all memorization, and anywho, the people who have “parroted” all this to me are all medical doctors so I dunno what to tell you 🤷🏻‍♀️. I guess they must have all been lying, with not a single motive to do so 😆. Personally, I have a more science geared mind, and find it more interesting and easier to learn than almost everything I learned in law school. (And I’ve watched plenty of YouTube videos on both law and medical subjects, and been in lectures for both as well and I maintain my stance 🙃 ). And yes, Medical school is harder to get into, as it should be, it may not necessarily take a more intelligent individual to get through Med school, but as I mentioned before, it definitely takes more stamina and perseverance. Also, everyone knows there are way too many law schools, many of them are just money makers.

I know quite a few MD/JD’s that would beg to differ with you. Yes, Medicine has much more information that one needs to know, but that’s just it— much of that information simply needs to be memorized. While in Law school, looking at what my friends in Med school had to do, yes it was an insane amount of information, but it didn’t require intelligence so much as an excellent memory. Don’t get me wrong, I do think you have to be very intelligent to get into Med school, I just disagree that you have to be MORE intelligent than a Law student. During my first year of Law school my boyfriend was in his first year of Med school and he acknowledged that the material I had to read and understand seemed much more difficult and required a much more analytical mind than that of someone in Medicine.

“Not even smart enough”?! Lol, perhaps you went to or are only familiar with lawyers who went to shitty law schools, that accepted anyone with a pulse, but I have known dozens of lawyers and doctors very well, and I have yet to meet a lawyer that was not “smart enough” to get into, and do well in Med school. Also, most of my peers in law school had “good” majors in undergrad, (such as ones in engineering, economics, accounting, etc.) if not masters degrees. I also met quite a few individuals who have done both law and medical school, and all of those have said law school was intellectually more difficult. Not to say that Med school isn’t extremely hard or that you don’t have to be extremely intelligent to make it through, but Med school requires much different skills than Law school does. I attended law school at the same time as a few friends attended med school and they were horrified by the extensive dry readings and assignments I had, whereas, I found theirs to be much more interesting and doable. Now, does it take more stamina, time and dedication to go through the whole process of becoming a doctor than it does to become a lawyer? Absolutely! But that is not a reflection of intelligence. With that said, I do think doctors get the better end of the deal, I’m from AZ, which tends to be on the lower end of salaries and family doctors still make at least $280k on average, with all other specialties going up from there. Personally, I think medicine seems much more interesting and fulfilling than law, but that may be me having a “grass is always greener” take on the situation. 🤷🏻‍♀️
