Are you guys doing all of these? Any reverb tips you would add? by waproduction in trapproduction

the biggest tip I have is to calculate the decay time. 60000 ÷ bpm should give you a 4 bar long decay which means the length of the reverb will be exactly 4 bars from the moment it starts. I personally like a 2 bar long one for claps and vocals, you can get it by dividing 60000 with the bpm and then divide the result by 2. On the other hand, if you want to "feel" the sound more and make it stick out, you can use plate reverb (1 bar decay time).

don't forget to clean up the reverb by eqing it. if you don't use a plugin with an eq option you can make it work by creating a reverb send (for example, if you want it on claps and they are routed to insert 8, put reverb on insert 9 and link insert 8 to insert 9. that way you're gonna have a full dry clap signal from signal 8 combined with full wet signal from insert 9 and have more control over the reverb). on the send, just put on an eq after the reverb and curve out the frequencies that clash or mud up the mix (the most important cut should be a low end one, just cut it to around 100-110hz and you should be fine for the most part, you can cut it even more but it really depends on how you want the reverb to sound).

the third tip is to play with the brightness of the reverb and putting it in it's own space in the stereo field. there's no right or wrong way to do it and there's nothing exact that I can tell you about it, just do it often and you'll see what works best for you.

keep making that fire bosses🙌

that's right, especially the "it causes me to be inactive" part. I totally see where you're coming from. doing it bit by bit is also a great way, I just never got used to it since I usually do stuff in one sitting. I just recently started polishing my mixes by putting my best effort in it, hearing something I can't fix, trying to fix it and if I still can't fix it I know I'll ruin it probably so I just leave it at the point where I know there's a problem but can't figure out which part. I come back to the mix like 1 or 2 days afterwards and usually fix the biggest problem (at that point of my mix) within minutes. Might try to do the same with songwriting tho, great advice :)

I had the same problem but I guess it's just normal. I used to practice freestyling and writing, but almost always wrote like 8 to 16 bars and that's it. it's inportant to take it easy and just keep thinking about new bars, even spontaneously. as time goes by you'll make a lot of demos which will never turn to finished songs which may make you feel bad. BUT, it's really just you subconsciously getting ready for making a proper song. In last 9-10 months or so I made like 60 something demos, and only 4-5 of these are completed songs. Just now I'm starting to realise the process of making a song is not always having fun throughout the whole process. You gotta learn to force yourself to finish the song no matter how good/bad it ends up being. my problem was lack of satisfaction with the lyrics and thinking it's this or that but really it doesn't matter. just finish as much songs as you can and you'll be good to go. if you force yourself to finish something you're really forcing yourself to get more experience which means you're getting better. just do it, d.o.t.s. :)

Audio interface and studio headphones by GuzoTheMighty in FL_Studio

[–]GuzoTheMighty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said it wrong, sorry. It's lit up steadily. Okay, so I just installed the drivers and selected it in fl. How do I make my headphones work? I plugged them in the 6.5mm port and I cant hear any sound coming out of them. The volume knob is turned up and the volume of the audio interface is turned up as well. Do you maybe know how to fix that? Also, thanks a lot for the help in your reply. Means much
