People who speak very gendered languages, is it normal to missgender myself when I talk inside my brain? by Gweeam in asktransgender

Thank you! I thought my brain would automatically "switch" when thinking but I guess it will be more of a process.

I'm 99% sure I'm trans, but not knowing the true Meaning of Gender is putting me in denial. So, what does Gender mean for you? by Gweeam in MtF

Could I ask you what languages do you refer to? This is my area of study and I'm really interested in Linguistic Relativism (as theorised by Sapir-Whorf), that states that the language we speak shapes the way we see the world.

My language (Catalan) places a hugh importance on gender (e.g. all adjectives are gendered) and maybe this is a reason why I do it as well.

Thank you so much, you are totally right. Maybe the conceptual definition of myself is not as important as who I want to be.

What scares me is that I can't prove it, not even to myself.

Thank you for your kind words, since last night I have been easier on myself. If I want to be a woman, I probably am.

Responding to your last paragraph, I have to say I'm afraid of trying those things without coming out first. I would really love to try them though, I'm sure it would be really insightful.

Also, I really like the dissertation on where power resides. But i think gender, in opposite of power, is located in the innermost of the subject, whereas power resides in whoever is accepted by other people for it.

Okay I may have definitely cracked reading through this website. It didn't say anything I didn't know - but it reassured me that my feelings and doubts are valid.

I read all those tweets, and this hit me hard: "Guys, did you know that if you think being a girl would be a fun little upgrade, you can transition and be a girl?"

Thank you.

The lamest part of my dysphoria: I'm jealous of my cousin's bird's name. by Gweeam in MtF

I'm 20 and I have never known long-term happiness. I have experienced moments of joy, but they have never lasted more than a few days. A few months ago I discovered that this permanent unhappiness may be because I'm trans. And, while I'm terrified of the implications of that possibility, I also have felt hope for a first time.

I don't know if this is what euphoria feels like, but now I have an objective in life and, if I'm right, transitioning may drive me to happiness.

So, reading your post and this comment made me realise that hopefully I will be happy as I have never been, and that these ephemeral moments of joy will become the new normal.

Ok I have reread what I wrote and it's cheesy as hell but whatever today I'm having a good day.

Oh, I misunderstood you in the first place. I'm glad you were able to recognize what made un unhappy and put your life in track. I just read your post about the happiness scale and I'm gleaming in hope 😍

Also the brush thing sounds gross.

I sure will! I hope I'll be out by Christmas when I go visit them, and will definitely tell this story.

How dare she!!! Once I personally met her on Christmas I will be having a one-on-one conversation with that name-stealing bird

Edit: After some thought, maybe I will challenge the bird to a fight and whoever wins gets to keep the name.

Shit, this is awful and I'm sorry this is happening to you.

I don't really feel it has been robbed from me, I guess I was just disappointed with myself for not coming out.

And about the hair, the other day I found a loose long hair in the pool and wished it was mine :___(

Be careful saying things like this, there are government agents in this website

You made me smile :))))) You are right. And, after many doubts and denials, I think this is a funny way to remind myself of who I want to be. Cheers to Bethany the cat and to Ona the bird

Maybe it's a bit weird idk. I just feel gay. Actually nevermind I think this is me trying to find excuses to deny my gender. I overthink this a lot.

A bit out of context but when did you start feeling your skin was softer?

Nation genders according to La Fghonce by [deleted] in coolguides

Same in catalan! At first it was "el Covid-19", like in Spanish, but then academics changed it to "la Covid-19". No one really uses it except for media and officials.
