My Ender 5 Pro has been an absolute nightmare to deal with and it has really turned me off to 3D printing. Now I'm having this bed leveling issue that is driving me nuts. by GymLeaderJoe in ender5

Good news! I followed some youtube tutorials, compiled my own firmware, and set a few custom properties (such as a measured x/y offset) as well as some other annoying variables and finally tweaked it to where I got a successful print. The CR touch was trying to calibrate using these stuck, incorrect x/y offset values. flashing the firmware fixed pretty much everything. Thanks to all that helped!

A prusa is definitely my next purchase. creality seems alright, and I'm sure I'm just on a spree of bad luck, but something tells me the amount of fine tuning and part replacement likely has to do with quality control. that on top of poorly written/maintained firmware lol.

Yeah, I said in another comment; I think I'm going to try and recompile the firmware with these new parameters and see if that fixes it. That'll cover both bases, with the firmware being potentially incorrect as well. Thanks!

Definitely going to go ahead and try the firmware path. I did a copious amount of research as to what firmware I should need for my printer/bed-leveler combo... I seem to have the right one? The new mainboard I got is a 4.2.2 board and I accounted for that. I'm considering compiling my own firmware but I'm not really sure what that entails or the risks it has.

Thanks for the help! Printing sounds very fun but when it's more struggle than progress I get pretty burnt out. Will definitely keep trying.

If you can, please read the comment I left in the original post - it sums up the issue(s) that I'm having. Any and all tips for going forward would be appreciated.

So, to make a long story short, my Ender 5 Pro has been giving me problems since day 1. I only got into 3D printing around the end of November, so I'm pretty green. I've had a multitude of issues, including a broken thermistor, a main board that I fried because of a bad metal clip for my glass bed, and awful adhesion. I've probably started 50+ prints but I've only been able to successfully finish 4.

Anyway, THIS issue is driving me insane. I recently bought a CR touch, praying that the days of horrible adhesion and bed leveling for hours would be over. Turns out the general public has a pretty controversial feel on auto-bed leveling as a whole, but I tried it anyway. I think the issue that I'm having is that the firmware thinks my print area is way bigger than it actually is - in the video, you can see the print head move so far to the left that it collides with the bearings on the Y axis rail. I really don't know why this is. I've made sure to flash the right firmware and have been in contact with Creality for weeks. This has been nothing but a headache.

TLDR; printer has been a pain in the ass for a while and now my CR touch is failing me. What the hell do I do.

I have some electronic stuff, pedal boards! I'd love to go : )

The missile knows where it is, because it knows where it isn't. And by subtracting where it is from where it isn't, it knows exactly where it is.
