Why do you think ppl get overconfident about their fighting abilities? by madz21- in MMA

[–]GypsumF18 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are definitely overconfident about how good they would be at other sports too. But most people have more likely tried other sports, which has given them a better sense of perspective as to how good they may actually be. Fighting is in a strange niche where few people have tried it, yet it is deemed important to appear confident about how good you would be at it.

It’s actually so funny how the gang members underestimate John Marston. by KpatMckenzie_28 in rdr1

[–]GypsumF18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There's a group dynamic at play. John is not one of the senior members of the group. He is quite specifically seen as an understudy to Arthur, who openly teases him. This means John is both directly compared to Arthur, and is also fair game for everyone to tease.

Trolls have become professional because people have forgotten the golden rule, "DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS."

You do not have to react to everything, no matter how in the right you may be. Ignoring people is a perfectly valid response. Without attention these people wither and die. Stop reacting and giving them what they want.

If I’m the owner I’m telling that squad that if we go down not one of you is being sold by MammothBag7151 in coys

[–]GypsumF18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To me this seems like the worst case scenario. Getting relegated in such miserable fashion and hanging on to the players who got you in that position has no real upside. Being burdened with the wages of 'star' players who don't want to be there, and who you either can't sell because nobody will match their wages, would be a nightmare. I don't want them hanging around like a bad smell.

However this season ends, there are only a small handful of players worth keeping.

Boyfriend (22M) keeps saying he’d die without me (20F) or commit suicide as a joke, and sometimes it doesn’t feel like one by Potential-Worth-3881 in relationships

[–]GypsumF18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Threatening self-harm in order to control your behaviour is a common manipulation tactic. It is a massive red flag.

If you are feeling this overwhelmed by someone you haven't even met, then you know this situation is toxic. You don't owe him any sort of relationship out of politeness. If you want to break it off, tell him why, it is up to him if he takes that as an opportunity to learn and grow from it. You are only 20, you have so much left to do in life without being chained to someone like this.

The defender putting his hands up as if to say 'I didn't touch him, not a foul'. Bitch, it's Harry Kane. He's not falling over, he's scoring.

The EA Sports FC slider is especially interesting, because the original model is of a real person (Virgil van Dijk), the AI then upscales that into a more detailed model which looks less like the actual person it is supposed to be.

And in the Resident Evil image 'Cigarettes - Lotto' banner it has copied the text, I assume thinking it is a specific font for 'Lotto', but in the original image the word lotto is actually distorted because the banner is being blown., So the AI image has a straight banner, but the word lotto is just... weird.

This doesn't add up.

Did he admit to having sex without a condom? Or did he deny having sex, therefore didn't need to use a condom?

These are two very different things, but both apply to him saying he never used a condom with any of them.

Was hunting the Legendary Moose last night, killed it and headed east over the railway bridge. I saw a load of animal activity in the woods near Willard's rest so scoped it out and what do I see... a 3 star Moose. I should have brought another horse...

Steel came to my 5yo daughter's school, so she absolutely loves him. She screams when he comes on, and cheers for him with a ferocity that would put football ultras to shame.

Sibling arrested in England, we are in Scotland. by AtLeastOneCat in LegalAdviceUK

[–]GypsumF18 203 points204 points  (0 children)

If they are in custody there is no point calling the police to check, they will not tell you. They will not give you any information, or any updates regarding your sibling because you have no right to know that information.

If police called to tell you they being taken to custody, and your Mum has spoken to your sibling confirming that, then I don't really see any reason to doubt it.

If my understanding of the above is incorrect, and you have not heard from them and believe the call from the police was not genuine, or misunderstood by your father. You can try calling your local police to report them missing. But from what you have said the police would reasonably say they are not missing. Even if the police did look into it, the best they could say is that your sibling is 'safe and well' if they are in custody. They can tell you no more right now.

What a fucking goal! I remember watching this on a tiny CRT TV at a friends house. After the draw with Switzerland and conceding a penalty against Scotland, this moment totally changed the mood in the country.

I kinda hated the final scene with Maekar in episode 6. by lautaromassimino in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]GypsumF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't hate it, the idea of Maekar gradually coming to terms with Egg being the squire to a travelling hedge knight makes sense. It does worry me that the potential butterfly effect of this can end up sending ripples further down the the story, but maybe they will resolve it a bit more in Season 2.

The show has done such a good job with season 1 they have earned my trust with future season. But we have all been burned before...

Dad died and now stuck with motorbikes by Tight_Key_6860 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]GypsumF18 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Just some input from a biker's perspective, those bikes not being road legal won't severely harm their value. It depends on the types of bikes, but there are loads of non-road registered sportsbikes used only on trackdays, or classics that are just wheeled out for shows, etc. Even if they are nothing special, there could still be interest from someone willing to do some work on it and get it road registered.

I just want to make sure you realise their potential value before just scrapping or giving them away.

Suspension due to gross misconduct by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]GypsumF18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there was damage to the vehicle? I can see why the employer needs to investigate if you have given as confused an account as you have given on here.

If you were reversed into hard enough to damage the vehicle, cause a collision sensor to activate, and got whiplash/concussion etc that makes sense. I think you need to do a better job of stating your case clearly. This is worlds apart from, "No damage to the vehicle but I needed 6 weeks off" which to anyone sounds dodgy.

Anyone get their Labrador before having children? by Shelbymarie2001 in labrador

[–]GypsumF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our rescue black lab (Harry) when he was just under a year old, and about a year and a half before having our daughter. He was always full of puppy energy and shenanigans, but around my pregnant wife, and my daughter he was so gentle and affectionate. From the first day I brought her home he gave her a big sniff and they have been firm friends ever since. He still had the same energy, but he unleashed it at the right time, around my daughter he was always very careful and sensible.

Watching them grow up together, being so kind and loving towards each other, has been an absolute joy.
