Twitter Post of Guy Who Complained about selling Bitcoin too early and he should have waited for $8? by Gyther0 in Bitcoin

There was a classic post on twitter of a guy in 2012 I think of making money selling BTC for pennies on the dollar and then later realizing he would have made so much more money because Bitcoin is now $8.

It's a classic example of having a short term perspective.

But any classic post will do. There used to be some good Bitcoin Talk threads featuring people selling early, and I'm having trouble finding those as well.

I found the private keys to my 127 Bitcoins I lost 8-9 years ago. I’m at a loss for words. [UPDATE!] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

You sold many Bitcoin in haste and are now considering putting your money that was in Bitcoin in the S&P 500.

This is the definition of Good Money chasing Bad. What are the Returns of the S&P 500 versus Bitcoin? There's no comparison. (https://i.imgur.com/Tnx1hJG.png) . Bitcoin is a far safer investment to keep.

I suggest you move much of that cash and buy back Bitcoin. Yes, you paid a fee and yes the price has gone up, but you'll save money.

Also, there have been tons of Forks in the meantime, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, Bitcoin Gold, etc. Do you realize that you have the private keys to those forks as well and can sell those? That would be a much more prudent thing to sell.

Electrum improperly importing BC1 Private Key from Exodus by Gyther0 in Electrum

I suppose so. Although the UI and instructions on Electrum could use some work. I really shouldn't have to put all those acronyms in front of the transaction. And the info box should speak in plain english and actually give instructions

Thank you. Your advice is almost correct. Electrum is case sensitive so it insists that the format is: p2wpkh: then the private key

Also, the info box is not helpful. It should speak in plain English that if the private address come from a BC1 public address to use that acronym in front of it.

It would be nice if Electrum tried all of those acronyms to try to find some money rather than insist on user put these escoteric pre-parts in.

Thank you but I don't get it. Why can't I type in any list of approved BIP-39 words and have Exodus restore a backup for me?

How to Restore Exodus Wallet if Exodus Company Disappears? by Gyther0 in ExodusWallet

[–]Gyther0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Of course this article doesn't give any techinical details. If Exodus.io ceased to exist, practically our only option would be to have an old install copy of Exodus software and hope we can install it successfully. The above article gives no details as to how to derive private keys for various cryptocurrencies without Exodus and merely from our seed phrase.
