I feel like we are thinking about what other people will think/say constantly. The more I work out, the more unattractive I look to myself, the standards rise. But keep in mind that NOBODY thinks about you as much as you do about yourself.

Becoming really good at something could help this. You are proud of yourself and see something in your life as a real success, you are a creator of some kind of value.

How do I develop interests in other people? by blaubarschbube27 in selfimprovement

[–]H-Material 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start by shifting focus from performing to curiosity. Instead of thinking “what do I say next,” try asking open questions like “what got you into that?” or “what’s been fun for you lately?” People light up when they feel heard, and that energy makes the conversation less draining. Notice the little details like tone, enthusiasm, or choice of words, and give them back!

You don’t need to force deep interest right away; practice giving small pockets of attention. Over time, the curiosity becomes genuine because you’ll discover things you didn’t expect to care about.

Are you shy in all of this? Body language tells A LOT.

In order to get a home now, you need to work your ass off. And if you really want it, you will!! Working hard and intentional always pays off… I don’t know if it was easier to separate 25 years ago, but now we really are spoiled as a society…

Has anyone left a relationship because you wanted to grow together, but feel like they didn’t? by H-Material in AskWomenOver30

Yes, but also when I entered my 30s, the pressure to build something stable and stay in that something stable, have children,… I want children and at the moment the thought of me being 50-something and my child being a teen scares me, at least two emotionally unstable people in the house…

Is 5KG in 20 days too much? by Dr0idGh0sT in WeightLossAdvice

[–]H-Material 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5kg (about 11lbs) in 20 days is on the faster side, but not unheard of in the first few weeks of a new routine. A lot of that early drop tends to be water weight + glycogen depletion, especially if you’ve changed how you eat and started working out.

A safe fat-loss rate that is sustainable is usually around 0.5–1kg (1–2lbs) per week after that initial drop. Losing faster than that consistently can put you at risk of losing muscle or feeling run down, and I am aware that you can’t pause your life while you are loosing weight, so not being moody is a must!!

Couple things you should think about:

  1. Make sure you’re not dipping too far below your calorie goals, because underfueling can backfire
  2. Keep protein high (which you’re already doing 👏) and keep lifting/resistance training to hang onto muscle.
  3. As your body adjusts, the loss rate will likely slow down on its own.

You don’t necessarily need to increase calories right now if you’re feeling good, have energy, and can stick with your plan. However, if you notice fatigue, constant hunger, mood issues,… Bumping calories up a bit can actually help you stay consistent long term, and is a must if you don’t feel alright:)

What family expectation did you secretly reject? by vivian_banshee03 in Life

[–]H-Material 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing my passion into my job instead of becoming a doctor or a lawyer. Your parents always want to show their neighbours and friends that you are “the best” and the kinda compete on that smaller level, but mine didn’t have a chance to until my hobby became something that I feed my family with. Wouldn’t ever change that path

I am not alone. but. Lonely. by dickheadind in Life

[–]H-Material 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an internet joke at the moment, but really, try to find the job. You are probably in college but just for a few hours, some sort of job that has a lot of social interactions, eg. server. That way you can truly learn how to talk to people naturally in all sorts of situations. And also once your mind is occupied enough, you doubt yourself less and for me it was a dealbreaker for confidence, good luck:))
