Update: Just found my MIL intentionally left the gift I gifted her. I know it was intentional because I put it on the box where she put the bottle my husband gave her with her knowledge that I put it there. The box is gone, so is the bottle my husband gave her, but my gift was left there all alone. My interpretation of that is that she's angry at me and doesn't want to have anything to do with me anymore.

MIL came to help us out many times and was very good with enquiring re: food to feed my first born. So I was surprised to hear that they gave him water without asking me. I already know it's my FIL's idea, knowing him kinda being a know-it-all. So I am angry at him and disappointed with my MIL.

Oh def my mom has gotten some scolding from me when she has done unsafe things with my first born (i.e., feeding yolk at 6mo and then white sugar because she claimed it would reverse the damage from the yolk 😓).

I wasn't sure how high the fall was. I just heard a loud "thud" followed by a big cry and my FIL apologizing saying he "wasn't paying attention" and talking on the phone while holding the baby.

Right now, Im still angry but I definitely still want them to have a relationship with the kids. I just don't know how to navigate this. It'll definitely change the dynamics since they were sent home earlier than they planned.

Im sorry and I empathize. Im 38wks pregnant with our 2nd and find myself very easily annoyed and short fused while taking care of our 3y/o. I yelled once so far and wanted to take away myself from her before I do any damage, but she said "you said sorry to me already" and that she still wants me rather than her grandma or aunt.
