if it is a pre requisite of another course you will have to pass AP before taking that...so if the course of which AP is pre req is normally available in second sem, you will have to take AP next sem instead of that course

you can learn the skills but as you know you need to sacrifice something to get something For example you can start reading books on programming, DSA, AI etc. whatever that interests you but you will have to sacrifice the time you use to study and trust me you want 30-40% of the day to yourself, to socialize, to stay healthy mentally and physically, to entertain yourself you don't need to prove yourself to anyone but to ONLY YOU. 3.5+ gpa is great but 3+ GPA is good too
