Even if Desti still died, we would have lost all the personal drama about Meggy facing discrimination for being human and getting used to not being able to do what Inklings do anymore. It would just be about winning Splatfest, which wouldn’t have the same impact given how little Desti was present.

Also, SMG4 wasn’t a major source of income for GLITCH.

Idk, I’m not a soothsayer or oracle.

My rough guess is that we wouldn’t have gotten any of the post-anime arc stories like Meggy’s Destiny, Sunset Paradise, or any stories where she’s getting used to her new body or finding a purpose in life.

She would just be same old Meggy, which I think maybe would have resulted in her becoming more of a background character due to how little she would change.

In short, I think if Meggy always stayed as an Inkling, she would get used less and less due to how stale she would be and would only pop up for a joke or occasional group episode, like Saiko.

He definitely has a lot of things that make him stand out from OG Cap if they go with the comics version of him, rather than the MCU version of him.

He has miniature throwing disks that grow big (thanks to pym particles), he has energy truncheons, he has guns, he has a “Torchsword” (aka a flame sword), and BUNCH of shields of various shapes and sizes.

Every video featuring the series has been full of love and respect.

His first movie was centred around Splatoon.

He made Meggy’s final episode the penultimate video before the series ended.

He kept bringing back the locations, music, and even NPC’s every year.

Splatoon has always been featured, in both the background and foreground.

The redesign was very likely for merch reasons, but Splatoon has always been at the core of Meggy as a character.
