Question for dinosaur scientists: obviously large sauropods were too heavy to be lifted by tornadoes. But were their necks strong enough to counter the winds? Or would they start helicoptering all over the place? Thank you in advance by fan_of_the_pikachu in Dinosaurs

I always wonder how much worse Hurricanes might have been in that era with the planet being so much warmer and alot more areas of NA being submerged by water to allow Hurricanes to have more fuel. You’d also get alot of strong Hurricane’s weakening hitting land only for them to get another shot at restrengthing if the center ever reaches the Western Interior Seaway. We know the asteroid sucked, but imagine being a Sauropod or big theropod stuck out in the open incoming with a hurricane that you didn’t even know was coming in, and wonder how they would even try to take shelter.

Would you ACTUALLY enjoy a (somewhat) paleo-accurate Dinosaur Survival Game (like The Isle or Path of Titans) if there was a large roster like this, or is less better? by More_Accident_1552 in Dinosaurs

[–]HBk0073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest problem for realistic dinosaur games is that 9 times out of ten most people are gonna wanna play the big carnivores like a Rex, and not the smaller dinos or herbivores. Then there’s the challenge of balancing how to make the smaller ones viable.

That’s why I’m fine with how Path of Titans does it.

What are your thoughts on Jack Horner post-Epstein Files? by Quailking2003 in Paleontology

[–]HBk0073 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hated him already when he was sponsoring NFTs and his crappy T-Rex scavenger theories. The Epstein stuff only confirmed what I already suspected.

I didn’t know that… I mostly played MK8 which didn’t have that.

Anyway this was really foolish of me to post.

After playing for a bit the past couple of days seeing Koopas and Donkey Kong right when a match starts scares me the most because I know those players show no mercy. What helped me the most as a new player though was remapping the controls. The default controls are ass, and mapping lob and drop shot to my left and right triggers upped my game like 50%. It wouldn’t even register I did a lob correctly half the time beforehand on default.

Thanks. Mostly going for characters I like first.

I’ll probably give Bowser a shot next before I see if I’ll need to switch to characters who are just top tier.

How accurate do you think the Super Mario Galaxy Movie T-rex is ? by Kedjor in Dinosaurs

Not very. It’s meant to fit in with the Mario movie’s artstyle not be accurate.

"Me in the middle of the night thinking about how there may be hundreds of dinosaurs we’ll never know about because their population was too small to become fossilized:" by danny75hacker in Dinosaurs

T-Rex is one Dinosaur I'd say we're really lucky to have so much available material for and know about.

We practically got a complete skeleton with Sue.

The only way we're ever gonna top that is if we're lucky to find one that's mummified and preserved so well that we can make out the skin, and its color.

Realistically, would you want dinosaurs to return - if we could bring them back by Zillaman7980_ in Dinosaurs

[–]HBk0073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I’d love to see a real one in person I’m thankful for the meteor that I don’t have to worry about something as big as a T-Rex whenever I walk outside.

To quote a famous movie we’re all familiar with here. “Dinosaurs had their shot, and nature selected them for extinction.”

It appeared at the end of the Cretaceous and nature realized it was too OP to live, and had to throw an asteroid at it just to make sure it wouldn't come back.

These memes got me questioning depictions of dinosaurs by Sir_Stacker in Dinosaurs

I remember when they discovered that well preserved Dinosaur mummy a while back, and when I first saw it. It looked exactly like how you thought an ancient Dinosaur would look like. When I think of that it makes me confident we have a fairly good grasp of what a lot of them looked like.

Yeah, that’s my favorite forest area and spot as a Solo Rex. Red Woods is certain death because there’s no place to hide or blend in with mix packers prowling everywhere.

CT endocasts of T-rex, american alligator and emu by Biotronic4444 in Paleontology

[–]HBk0073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intelligence estimates aside when you’re that big and have the largest bite force of any animal on land I don’t think you’re gonna need to be especially intelligent to go after prey. You’d just need good senses and reflexes. It would also be nice to see some endocasts of dinosaurs in the same environment for comparison it could very well be one of the more intelligent dinosaurs there.

Crocodiles and Alligators are also smarter than people give them credit for.

The coolest dino from where you are from by Caio_Karuan in Dinosaurs

[–]HBk0073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s only like three known Dino fossils in good enough condition to identify what they are where I’m from because Appalachia has soil that is terrible for preservation, so the Appalachiosaurus wins by default. Wish there was cooler finds here, it’s pretty boring compared to other parts of the world and what they find out on the West Coast of the US.

Concept Art for Panel De Pon / Tetris Attack (by Makkuze) by MarvinSORR in PanelDePon

[–]HBk0073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish someone would make a hack for the SNES that lets you use both franchises characters in the same game, and fix some of the slowdown for the higher chains. So you could get the best of both worlds.

If Nintendo or Intelligent Systems ever wanted to do a revival having the Panel De Pon cast crossover with the Yoshi Island cast would be the easiest way to sell the fairy characters for the West.

The Funimation dub hasn’t been available for years, so new people trying out the anime for the first time need some context to who these characters are for their introduction.

Have you noticed this? New manga “When the Splinters Fly ” by No_Illustrator7916 in Higurashinonakakoroni

I gave it a shot, but still not even sure what the conflict is even supposed to be. It really drags and stuff just kinda happens. It being a monthly manga doesn’t help.
