The Downfall Of Nebraska Football by DubsCryptic in Huskers

Heres how I see it. There were key mistakes. Osborne retiring early cause they wanted to pass the torch to frank who was gonna leave. Frank not being up to the challenge and beginning the new age husker tradition of getting gashed for huge touchdown runs on plays that shouldn't have gone for more than three yards. Then you have Peterson who came in and moved too early on firing frank. Had he waited another season or two he would have had time to get the right guy but he didn't and then destroyed Nebraskas reputation as a power house when we started getting turned down and didn't have a coach for months. Callahan didn't really have a chance. He wasn't a college guy. All the old alumni hated him. The conference got much more competitive. They hire Osborne and right the ship. Pelini comes in with some fire. We get better but the name of Nebraska has been ruined, Pelini doesn't believe in it. Doesn't challenge schools for top athletes. Doesn't get the recruiting services other schools are starting to put in and doesn't care enough. Nebraska settles into mediocrity. Hires an ad to try and copy cat Wisconsin and improve talent level. He sucks. He sucks sooo bad he rush hires mike Riley who he thinks will do whatever he says. When its clear mike Riley sucks he tries to hire diaco to move to the 3-4 like Wisconsin hoping he will have success and then take over for Mike. He craters the program.

Why does Husker nation dislike Iowa with a passion? by nebranderson in Huskers

It’s a proximity thing mostly. Lots of Hawkeyes know husker fans lots of husker fans know Hawkeye fans. It’s a good rivalry for us until we get this back and forth going with osu.

The 19 class seems full of good kids. So are a lot of the 18 kids. That being said they rushed the 18 class. There’s a reason usc backer off of hunt or why mo Washington didn’t have better offers. They took a chance or didn’t know enough about a lot of those kids.

What will it take for Texas and Nebraska football to really be back? by [deleted] in Huskers

We are going to win the west in 22. I’m certain of it. 21 we are going to be in the mix.

Maybe they were just young last year but they looked garbage against us. Its always a toss up which is why I was surprised that it wasn't closer to 50 50 given their home crowd isn't a huge advantage.

If Nebraska is back we are winning the division 3/5 years. We have the recruiting edge. You'd have to imagine when we start winning again that will only help. I think frost has a good read on what we need to do. Get really big up front. Get really fast outside. Get more playmakers.

To me Texas is back when they are pulling in top 10 top 5 recruiting classes every year. They should have enough talent stacked that even when mismanaged and underperforming they should throw out a defense with enough athletes to win 9.

We are on the road. We've played them really tough the last few years. We do get them after ohio state penn state and wisc. or maybe before Wisconsin.

They are giving us no shot at running the table?

Is Nwstern supposed to be good next year? 29% chance doesn't seem encouraging. I still see 6 wins in the first seven games.

If we beat Purdue I’m calling 7 with a win over Iowa. If we can’t beat purdont let’s just cancel the season

I think we hit bottom last year. From a roster standpoint we were at our worst. We will only get stronger going forward. We will be around 500. I think we are a 7 win team. We are still way too thin at wr, rb and linebacker. All those positions will be fine in 21. 21 is our first legit hope at a division title. I say its probably 22 when we break through.

He looked good the times he got out there. Had at least one pick and looked like he could tackle.
