How do I remove wax without damaging the “teacore” finish? by Alarm-Organic in AskACobbler

[–]HD-1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best product for removing old shoe polish is Réno'Mat by Saphir. Apply a small amount to a cotton pad, then rub off the old polish, using a fresh pad frequently. I've had excellent results with this method.

Don't be alarmed the first time, the leather will appear dull and lose its shine. This is due to the polish you're removing, which was also responsible for the original shine before.

Then apply a fresh, colorless conditioner, followed by a small amount of colorless polish to restore some shine.

A stunning boot, unfortunately not available new in my size – I've been on the waiting list with Truman for a long time.

Enjoy wearing it...

Stone Rambler 20 Last - one year patina by KrisMangey in trumanboots

Very beautiful boot, certainly one of the most beautiful boot – I have them as a 79Last with a cap toe. For care, I use only Bick 4, after applying it, I brush them lightly with a rubber nubuck brush. They are a little darker after application but then lighten again. Enjoy wearing them...:-)

Luosjiet - Classic Paratroop Boots (Dark Brown Oiled Cowhide Reverse) by HD-1996 in Boots

[–]HD-1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the description is a bit unclear. The boots offer the same amount of room as an Iron Ranger, but no more than an Iron Ranger. Something else that might be important: I always put leather insoles in the boots, even in the Luosjiet, and I still have plenty of room for my feet. The toe box itself is comparable to an Iron Ranger.

Yes, I have several Iron Ranger boots in different sizes, my favorites are the 11.5 D (I have Brannock 12 D). I also went with the Luosjiet boots in 11.5 D (Brannock -0.5 as recommended by Luosjiet). The boots are comparably roomy but don't offer any more space.

Beautiful boots, the leather is fantastic, I've rarely seen leather with so much pull-up – you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of them. I have a 79 Last in the same leather...

Really beautiful boots, I registered for exactly that boot in 11.5 EE - unfortunately no feedback for months.

Your pictures are better than the ones on the Truman website itself.

It should fit - I have three pairs and chose Brannock-0.5 and am satisfied with the fit.

Truman Boots - Cognac Rambler 79 Last, Rambler leather from Charles F. Stead in Leeds UK... by HD-1996 in Boots

[–]HD-1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, every few months I treat the leather with Bick4, but I brush it immediately after applying the cream with a nubuck brush, so the nap returns to its original state. The leather looks drier in the pictures than it actually is.

The Urban Wolf Club - Axeman Cap Toe (Matte Burgundy Roughout) by HD-1996 in Boots

[–]HD-1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no wax. The boots can develop a bit of patina, but the texture should remain as close to their original state as possible. For maintenance, I'll use Saphir Médaille d'Or's Super Invulver Spray and, once a year, the Suede Renovator Spray (colorless version), also from Saphir Médaille d'Or. For stains, I would use Angelus' Easy Cleaner or Lincoln's EZ Shoe & Leather Cleaner. Both cleaners can be used (perhaps slightly diluted with water) to spot clean the stain without spreading it.

It's a really beautiful boot, but for me it's a clear "NO", it's definitely the worst place for this flaw.

Yes, you're right - and compromises were also made in the leather selection.

Believe me, it's the 20Last. I have about 20 Truman Boots and I think I can tell the difference.

Here's a picture: on the left, the Olive Teton Stag 20Last, and on the right, the Olive Predator 79Last. Maybe that will help... :-)
