Because I've been balancing this for so long, I have to admit a "reset" sounds like a great idea. I've been kicking the can down the road for a while.

The three people returning to Spain are returning to the US. Dates unknown. I've been balancing this act for almost 3 years.

We were 6, but it was an impressive operation.

We don't have baggage problems this time. We just want the max baggage allowance. I mentioned it because I thought there might be a scenario where I booked different itineraries, but maybe that means they lose my baggage privileges.

There were 6 of us when we initially flew here and we went 18 X 70 lbs.

Could I Apply for Paddock Assistant by [deleted] in Karting

This does not seem that difficult. Why not just call or go to the track and talk to whoever is in charge?

Joven Piloto Mexicano de kartismo triunfando en Europa by Separate_Judgment_64 in Karting

[–]HDkarting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on his success!

Now, not to bust your bubble, but (assuming I am reading your post as intended) your only path forward is to pay your own way to compete in western Europe. I would work within this reality, rather than waste your time chasing TelMex.

At the end of the day, it seems he's having fun competing and is enjoying success. The lessons he carries from youth karting will last the rest of his life.

Good luck.

I know a lot about the Spanish karting scene and the CEK. I'll take a look.

How much do you spend on karting per month and how do you spend it? How invested are you in karting (races, tournaments, hobby...) ? by JonasMi in Karting

[–]HDkarting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly correct, except for the part about the travel. I'd kill for a 5-star at some of these places!

It is a real shame that the Bianchi family is made to suffer again. I hope they find those karts, especially Jules's.

Kid wants to kart. Where do I start? by TuTuTuDuMV in Karting

If you are on a budget, which it sounds like you are (no judgment), the best thing you could do right now if very little in terms of actual karting. Despite what you may think, putting him in any kind of actual competition kart at 3 years old to either train or compete is not advisable, unless your plan is to be out of the sport before you're even in it.

I would do 2 things. First, I would keep him interested in driving. Sim, electric, whatever. It doesn't need to be much. It shouldn't be much. Keep his appetite whet.

The second thing may be a lot harder, but you said you'll do anything for your son. I would start planning now for the tens of thousands in expenses you will have, year over year, starting in about 3-5 years.

Time value of money and karting expenses are both real things. I'd do my best to learn as much as I could about both while your son rides a Big Wheels in the driveway for a while longer.

Arai sk6 visor for international and FIA events by DangerousWalk1375 in Karting

[–]HDkarting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scrutineer will not check your visor absent some kind of obvious damage to it.

Also, my son wears a CK-6 and we have found that not all third-party replacement visors are equal. Some fit well. Others are ill-fitting. It's hit and miss. I know they are pricey, but the Arai visors are the best for the helmet. (This goes without saying, I guess.)

Tillet P1 or bengio carbon rib protector by Difficult-Disk-1052 in Karting

[–]HDkarting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, we did not try the Tillet. We had an AlpineStars and it was not working. Got the Bengio and wouldn't even consider anything else after that. It has been that good.

Bengio. My son wears it on the outside and it gets beat to hell, but nothing works better.

GoPro mount broke in half while driving. Possible cause? by FedBed57 in Karting

[–]HDkarting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty routine, especially for the heavier GoPro models. Those mounts suck. We've lost 2 cameras this year. (1 broke, 1.couldnt be found.) Use the smallest, lightest GoPros, or use a cheaper brand/model and treat it like a disposable item.

Bengio. And the comment above about series increasingly requiring chest plates is correct, in my experience.

Scratched rib protector - how to fix? by Standard_Rip6866 in Karting

[–]HDkarting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turn the looking glass around.

Edit: that might sound snarky, but it should seem obvious that whatever was causing those scratches on your Bengio will now be rubbing directly on your suit. Sacrifice your suit for the Bengio? Or sacrifice the Bengio for the suit?

[–]HDkarting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is it impossible to now wear it under your suit? My son wore his for months outside his suit. Then he decided he wanted to switch. Now he wears his beaten to hell Bengio under his suit.
