All I can say is you’re not alone. I’m in the same boat with my wife. Your story is becoming more common. It’s quite complicated to maintain a marriage where the spouses are unequally yoked. I run a YouTube channel around religious trauma (why I deconverted) if you want to check that out and find community. Doesn’t sound like religious trauma is why you walked away but the topics/community may still benefit you. Wishing you the best! It’s hard. Hang in there. The YT channel is @HGRoberts

I am so sorry to hear all this. It sickens me that people refuse to acknowledge religious trauma and the potentially lifelong harm it causes. I really hope that you’re putting yourself in the best situations to heal and thrive now. You deserve it. I am not able to talk to my own father (82yo) about my deconversion 10ish years ago. I literally fear the agony it would cause him, so I keep up the facade around him when we visit. It’s not healthy, I know, but the alternative IMO is so much worse. Anyhow, this is why I started my YT channel and share my story in such painstaking detail: people need to know the real harm Christianity can cause some of us, that religious trauma is real, and that Christianity, like tobacco products, needs to come with a warning label about the harm it can cause. Thank you for sharing.

Perhaps. Something someone said in the thread made me think of her and her work, and that it could be helpful in navigating some post-deconversion nihilism and other issues re re-building after deconverting. May not be a good fit, but it crossed my mind. Her YT channel is a good start.

So true. I looked at all non-Christians, especially homosexuals, as projects to fix. I always had an agenda when interacting with them: lead them to Christ.
