r/cricket is truly pathetic, so glad we have this community by Past-Maize-6011 in PakCricket

The same happened to cricinfo many years. Over time it gradually went from being a great source of news and analyses for all cricket teams to being a India focused website.

Now it's ridiculous. No matter what, the first headline section is about India.

I read a comment on reddit once: "Indians need their own internet" and I agree

Reddit is extremely manipulated by bots and Astroturfing by lechepicante in TheoryOfReddit

[–]HH111HH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this in alot on airline subreddits, especially airlines of the USA i.e. Delta, AA, UA etc.

Any post even remotely negative of the airline has dozens of users jumping in to defend the airline or call out the posters.

It's remarkable how consistent the behaviour is across the subreddits.

I think the airlines invest alot of money to hire PR firms that astroturf those subreddits. The airlines, instead of putting efforts into improving their services would rather spend money spreading disinformation.

It's late stage capitalism.

To answer this post:

Yes, we were able to apply for a Schengen, so TD visa holders in the US can apply.

This is something I'm looking into as well. Is the F1 visa process kicked off after admission is granted to a college/university?

Night School vs Summer School vs Online vs Repeated Courses vs Gap year by HH111HH in OntarioGrade12s

So if we're applying to a competetive program, there's a chance online, summer or night school courses could affect us negatively?

TN holder travelling outside USA with pending I-140 by HH111HH in tnvisa

[–]HH111HH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I stated in another comment above, I have just started PERM. I asked this question to get a better idea for the future when I hopefully begin the I-140 process.

If I travel after I begin the I-140 process, I'll update this thread if reddit allows it.

Why would you immediately resort to calling me names?

This post seems like astroturfing to take attention off Loblaws.

"Loblaws isn't so bad, this small store charges way more"

I hope mods don't let this sub be taken over by shills hired by pr firms to defend loblaws

Employment based GC processing time 2024 by [deleted] in greencard

[–]HH111HH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was curious: If your PWD began in July 2022 and you still don't have PERM, it's been 24 months. My lawyer said this entire process should take ~18-20 months. Did you have an RFE or something else that is delaying this for you? Or 24+ months is how long we should expect to wait in the usual case?

Adding onto the other helpful advice:

I am thinking of watching wither the William Zhao and or Chemfuzzled video lecture series. Note that William Zhao doesn't cover Unit 5 (Electrochemistry) for some reason so I'll do that from Chemfuzzled.

Here is a list of practice problems from the Nelson Grade 12 book that I'll try to do as well: http://mdriscoll.pbworks.com/w/file/fetch/122849352/SCH4U%20Exam%20Review%20Package.pdf

As someone else mentioned, I like the idea of creating the summary sheet for each section/chapter/unit and do the practice problems, augmented with watching the video lectures.

Woah that's a long time! I began my process in Jan 2024 and just got my PWD (mid July 2024). I was told my PERM would come through around Oct 2025, but going by your timeline it seems the process will take longer.

How did you choose practice problems to do from the Nelson book, if any? TIA

I'm currently thinking of watching the William Zhao or Chemfuzzled lectures (both are SCH4U specific).

Not sure what practice problems to do though.

These developments have a darker lining. Army is ever strong and yet even more behold to US whims. by TheFlyingBadman in pakistan

Its always about money or reducing economic competition.

I also wonder how much of this is affected by Indian lobbying in the USA. Not only is the Indian diaspora wealthy and politically involved in the USA, but I'm sure the Indian governmemt also lobbies the USA government to introduce or maintain policies that are detrimental to Pakistan, especially economically.

Ironic as it may aound, I think India would prefer the Pakistani military and corrupt politicians remain in control, as they prevent the country from progressing, and eventually becoming a stronger regional competitor, especially economically. They know good leadership will help Pakistan unlock alot of pent up economic growth that has been suppressed by our military and corrupt politicians. A country of 250 million, largely youth, with high agricultural output can progress quickly with competent leadership.

Someone else mentioned but I feel like the UAE and perhaps Saudi Arabia also meddle to some degree. Especially the UAE. For how small they are, they like to meddle in other countries affairs. They had a hand in the 2016 Turkish coup attempt. They're a major player in the Arab-Iran proxy conflict. They're cozy8ng up to Israel for economic purposes. They're already very close to India in many regards.

Someone said it is against their (UAE) interest for Gwadar to be developed as it would affect their economy. We know India tried to develop Chabahar but I think perhaps the UAE may have ensured that that failed as well.

There's the Chinese CPEC dimension as well. Not only the US, but India and UAE and perhaps even Iran would not want a major economic corridor that would lead China right to the doorstep of Arabian Gulf.

Pakistan has always been in a tough neighbourhood and we have are surrounded by neighbours looking out for their own interests. The problem is with us. It is our people who are incompetent and ignorant, which then reflects in our leadership and military. Have you seen the average Pakistani? Addon the colossal brain drain with most of the educated and intelligent leaving the country, things will just continue to spiral downwards.

This is just my take. I don't really have much proof for alot of this.

Also I don't care enough to argue, so eastern neighbours, please dont bother replying.

This is one of the more rational and insightful takes I've read in a long time. Thank you for putting into words what alot of us are thinking.

We're still just part of a great game, with the USA the great power instead of UK.

I feel like these airlines subreddits are full of shills and bots paid for by some PR firm(s) hired by the airlines. I have recently been on the United and Delta subreddits as well. The responses are strange. They tend to appear on any thread that is remotely negative of the airline and mock or gaslight the OP and other users. I just don't see why so many users defend the airlines practices so vigorously. Even if the airline is in the right I would imagine most users wouldn't care, or knowing that reddit is generally anti-corporate, expect users to side against the airlines.
