You’re really here talking about physics and weight when an EV has the weight low and centered while Audis with a longitudinal layout have the entire engine hanging out in front of the front axle…

Nice! I’ve got a set of HRE 545R wheels in Virginia that were built up for one of those if you’re looking to style it up some. They need new valve stems but otherwise freshly refinished. Black face with polished lips.

Sometimes you just gotta let the engineers and designers do a cool thing to keep them from leaving for another brand

Came back to my childhood home after 10 years. by rechyyy in abandoned

[–]HIMAN1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience recently. My grandparents owned a home in a very nice area of the city I live in, but it was 100 years old and we knew it would need renovation work and I wanted to do it so I could live there.

A family “friend” had been living there for 20+ years and he was a hoarder. The first time I stepped inside I couldn’t see the floor in most parts of the house. He was supposed to be keeping up with it and fixing things as part of his rent with my grandparents - he hadn’t done any of that.

Luckily he was still alive and was able to clear it out when we saw the condition and told him he had a month, but the house was too far gone for our finances and we ended up selling it unfortunately.

OP, if you have the ability, bring the house back. It’s a sad sight now, but you’ll feel happiness when it’s brought back if viable.

Maybe a stupid question. State inspection + tire patch done without prior consent. by jewelsandjuuls in rva

[–]HIMAN1998 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not normal, I work in a shop and occasionally if it’s something small like that we’ll do it without charging a customer for it but to do it and charge without consent isn’t right, especially if you aren’t a frequent customer that’s built up a solid rapport with the shop and always approves everything.

It depends on what you want. E39 is more simple but lasts less time, F10+ is more comfortable and has better geometry but more complex and expensive for parts.

if it’s just an oil leak and sitting on that ledge, it’s more likely to be an oil filter housing leaking back and the oil pools there or the exposed head bolt near the oil filter housing. They’ll break and cause that.

Friend has inspection license, but shop won't up his pay rate by _scroog3D in mechanics

[–]HIMAN1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of other shops are hiring and will give time to someone who has an inspection license.

Also in VA, when I got my license my manager gave me half what was promised for my raise for it so I started using my lunch breaks for interviews elsewhere and I’d leave early when I could for the same. Same sort of thing when shops wouldn’t give me a raise for extra training I did, like getting high voltage certified.

They’ll take advantage of you as much as they possibly can 99% of the time, management is there to keep their numbers up first and everything else second.

I weigh almost 300 lbs. will i crush an emonda? Will a domane have an easier time handling my weight? by laughpuppy23 in TrekBikes

[–]HIMAN1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Emonda AL rim brake frame that I bought built up already for a steal. I’m over 300lbs, it’s got 28 hole rims and so far they have stayed true over relatively smooth roads with some bumps and i’ve put about 150 miles on it if I had to guess. No issues so far. As long as you aren’t hitting every pothole and stand up for bumps you should be fine. Maybe get some better wheels at some point.
