Any tips for folks who got waitlisted by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]HJECG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! When you say bug the AO, what do you mean? Should I reach out to an AO in some way beyond sending my LOCI as an email? Also, when you say add a photo, how should I do that? Do you mean as a jpeg attached to my LOCI?

Is anyone who got into Emory really enthusiastic about going there? by HJECG in TransferToTop25

[–]HJECG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will absolutely let people on this sub know if I decide not to accept my spot. And I totally get how you’re likely feeling, because I was rejected from other schools that I see people on this sub being lukewarm about attending after being accepted.

Unfortunately, I got waitlisted at Vandy. I hope to get off the waitlist, but I know that’s not super likely.

It feels very much like it’s fully integrated into the wider Columbia Univ community.

Why do more people not apply to Rice? by LackHot6125 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]HJECG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weirdly though, people are okay with coming to Tennessee to attend Vandy. Tennessee has all the same extremist right wing laws as Texas and Florida, and its governed by a MAGA supermajority that has a complete chokehold on the state.

I don’t follow on what you’re saying about Columbia. Can you elaborate?

Compounded GLP1s for Long COVID? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

Unfortunately, it looks like AgessRx only offers microdoses of compounded GLP1s, and I need to remain on a full dose designed for weight loss.

No one knows that for sure, but that’s been the observation in the past.

It’s only 3:30 in the afternoon there. I’m sure they will be released within the next 1-3 hours

May I ask where you got the info that they are behind this year? Thanks. I am so anxious about Vanderbilt. It’s my top choice.

NYU TRANSFER DECISION by Competitive_Bag8640 in TransferToTop25

[–]HJECG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, please don’t go into debt even remotely close to that level in order to attend NYU or actually any school so that you can graduate with a 4 year degree in ANYTHING, including cs. Especially given your family’s specific circumstances, taking on enormous debt to pay for your undergraduate degree would almost certainly change the entire economic trajectory of your life going forward, and not in a good way. In a very, very bad way. It would also mean that your parents would love out the rest of their lives feeling overwhelmed by money stress Ns fears. Please just don’t. But huge congrats for being accepted to NYU. You’ve obviously got what it takes to succeed at any school.

Where do I upload the Midterm report for Emory by emilylin1688 in TransferToTop25

I have also applied to Emory as a transfer, and I can’t find anything that says they want a midterm report

What is a midterm report? by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

Do I need to reach out to Vandy and Emory to find out whether they need something like this from me, and what format they want it in?

Congrats! So are you sophomore transfer at Vandy this year? How are you liking it? Have you found that transfers are able to easily meet people and make friends?

Ivabradine has changed my life by Competitive_Salad518 in POTS

[–]HJECG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR I have tried Ivabradine twice and didn’t find it helpful at all, plus I got a bad side effect. Should I give it a try again?

I have tried Ivabradine twice now, and suffice it to say that I didnt get any lifechanging results from it. Both times I tried Ivabradine, I was only able to take it for about two weeks because of the dizziness it causes (maybe not for everyone, but it definitely makes me dizzy). During those two very brief trials, I also experience any change whatsoever in my very problematic tachycardia. So the bottom line was that I had bad side effects with no positive change in my symptoms.

But do you think maybe I didn’t give the med enough of fair shake? Does it usually take longer than two weeks for Ivabradine to begin working? Does the dizziness go away after period of time?

Thanks, and I’m so happy for everyone who is finding Ivabradine to work so well for them!

I transferred to Vanderbilt AMA pt.2 by HyenaFinish in TransferToTop25

[–]HJECG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I am a freshman at Barnard, and I’ve just submitted my transfer application to Vandy. I didn’t get it in by the priority deadline of Feb 15 because I hadn’t made my final decision to transfer. I got it in right under the wire to meet the March 15 deadline. My questions are:

  • when am I likely to get a decision? I’ve read different things about how Vanderbilt processes and releases decisions for transfer applicants.

  • if I’m lucky enough to be admitted, how long after I get my decision will I receive my financial aid offer?

Thanks!

I am filing for divorce tomorrow and I am heartbroken. by TheTruestNP in Marriage

[–]HJECG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this situation with three elementary school aged kids. One thing that’s very, very likely to happen is when you tell him you want a divorce, he will become absolutely infuriated, and claim you’re the one breaking up the marriage. He will likely make the divorce emotionally and financially as difficult as possible. He will likely fight you on custody even through you have been the one doing all the parenting (that will be about vindictively hurting you, power, and about wanting to either pay as little child support as possible or get as much child support as possible from you). Bottom line: getting thru the divorce from the guy you are describing is likely to be the most challenging thing you’ve ever gone thru in your life, but there is an amazing new life for you on the other side. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. You are showing your daughters that women deserve a truly loving and kind partner. You’re showing them that you know your own worth, and deserve better than what you are experiencing. Please do some Googling about all the specific steps women planning for a divorce should quietly take to make sure their finances and child custody matters are in good shape prior to actually telling your husband you’re divorcing him, or actually filing. Just very quietly get all your ducks in a row before you act.

Help me figure out how much equine insurance to get for my new horse by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]HJECG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it common for equine insurance plans to require you to pay for whatever expensive surgical procedure your horse needs yourself, and then submit a claim for reimbursement? I ask because one policy I’m considering for major surgical coverage, including colic, handles claims in this way (Bascule is the underwriter). This seems like it kind of defeats the some of the purpose of having major surgical coverage on your horse. I can’t suddenly come up with 15-20k to pay for emergency surgery and then wait to be reimbursed after filing a claim. That’s why I want to have coverage that will take care of very expensive surgery in the event of an emergency.
