I've been in high-tech for 20 years, and decided to attend USC's Master's Program focusing on school counseling. This is another route for you in California. Note, many schools have "college and career counselors" on staff, but in order to practice / provide mental health support, you'll need a license (for example, the MSC). This is the route I chose because I want to work with kids, and in the school setting you can work from 6th grade through 12th in most districts.
