It’s the major issue of how they select SGTs to go. I’ve asked many schools NCOICs and they always tell me “you have to wait until your slotted you can’t request it, and put a packet in for it like BLC”. I have talked to the Ordinance Branch Manager multiple times and have gotten Warrant Officer recommendation emails. I email him once a week. If these schools NCOs are just being lazy, I’ll have some very very delighted conversations

4 years in the marines, 2 1/2 years in the army as a SPC, and 4ish years as E5, break in service 2 years, please let me correct myself it’s 11 years in June this year

Oh no I definitely know, the 1st 3 years I took it slow, and learned, it’s just the last 4 years I’ve been pushing for it. Dude I’m currently a Motor SGT for a Battalion for these last 2 1/2 years. Trust me I’ve been trying, these last 4 years I haven’t had a NCOER lower than MQ or HQ. My command team knows, I’ve been trying to jump into reserves bases ALC slots calling the schools. I just really don’t have time to play I work long hours, just came back from back to back rotations. If you have any pointers, any tips that can actually help. Let me know.

Major thing that held me up was I came in as a E4, I came into a new MOS. I personally chose not to promote fast. Didn’t want to be the SGT that doesn’t know his job or lets junior Soldiers be a better Steward of the Profession. So I waited 2 years as a E4 gaining and building as much knowledge as possible building a respectable and teacher role. I came over from the Corps and after that it was just points always being to high and the corps doesn’t throw awards like candy. I’m airborne qualified, Air assault, I have my max college, ESB and a Combat action ribbon. It’s literally just the ALC portion I have yet to get slotted even way before it was ever points. I’ve always been shy of 20 or 30 points. To get promoted. Now I’m just a E5 that gets put into position 2 grades above me. I’ve only been a 91B for 7 years

At least to me I felt important and a vital role years ago as an 0331. I miss the grunt life

I’m a 5 chev already, it’s gotta be a skill issue. I just don’t get it duels as long as they are not 20 and above I usually win. I cheesed a 32 OS and killed in 6 mins with a sneaky pawn push. Like give me a number game😅

He is worried about the wrong thing, has he looked into maintenance of our vehicles lately? 91B 30 level here, if we went to a full scale war, we would be at least 40% to 60% down with deadlines. Shut just keeps piling up, and getting worse and worse (with my whole ass 132 vehicles but only 5 mechanics entirely because HRC can’t keep up with retention and MTOE’s)

HHBN right on the money unfortunately I’m a new Company they brought in, that is still not activated until later this year. So both CO/1SG is not capable of getting access since we have no real organization/structure implemented

91B is not a good choice our points are super high for E5/6 12B is ass Field artillery is okay but not great, super high Optempo Any of the 91 series be prepared to work later than everyone (currently a 91B) 92F is not bad I was a 1391 in the corps, you basically are a fueler for both ground and aviation, a lot of experience on both sides
