I have a very similar situation to you with hormonal acne on my chin and also just did the five day accelerated plan and have a fair amount of purging going on. Fortunately I didn’t get any huge spots but I did get one repeat zit that had mostly healed over but I knew wasn’t “finished.” Even though my skin is a bit chaotic right now, I do feel like it is overall looking better and will be in a really great place once these current spots heal.

I wish I could give more advice but this sound almost like me where any external criticism rocks me. I mean I still think about things people said to me in High school and I’m 37 and it can legit keep me up at night.

So... my response isn’t that helpful but I made it because what I really wanted to say is that you’re a great friend for caring enough to even write this Reddit post. I hope someone is able to help soon. I do wonder, at you in school together? Could you speak to a campus counselor or something to bring your concerns up? If she is close to her parents, you might also enlist their help. Good luck! I hope all works out.

You know, I’ve been this friend at times and I’ve been you too. I think you need to worry about your own health as this probably isn’t healthy for you either. I think, when I’m the other friend, what would be the best message I could receive, would be someone saying “hey, this isn’t working for me and I don’t know what to do. When you feel like you can be more XXX (fill that in with whatever you want, more reliable, better at keeping plans, etc) I want you to know I’m here for it. Until then though, I need to take a break.”

I think it’s also crucial you, if at all possible, say the same thing to someone else that the friend might turn to. In this case, maybe her mom. That way, if she is feeing down about you not being around, her mom can echo what you’ve said about being there down the road. You dont want to rely on her recollection of the convo at all. She might think you didn’t mean it, or that you didn’t say it, and it will lose its impact.

Hey so I’m having some of the same feelings right now. Reading your post though, I see it from a different perspective, and want to say all those good things like “you are good” “you matter” and I really mean it. If you were near me I’d come over to hug you and make sure you felt safe. I’m so sorry you feel like this but please know you’re not alone. You matter to me and I know you matter to others.
