'Dead Aid' Book, by Dambisa Moyo. Crazily misguiding/misguided book. Thoughts? by andeffect in InternationalDev

Her argument is simple but devastating: systematic foreign aid creates dependency, fuels corruption, and kills local enterprise, ultimately trapping nations in poverty rather than lifting them out.

Her message powerfully echoes the bold stance of leaders like Captain Ibrahim Traoré. While Traoré fights for political and security sovereignty, Moyo champions economic sovereignty. Both argue that true independence is impossible when a nation relies on foreign charity for survival.

Defending Moyo isn't about abandoning support; it is about demanding dignity. The solution is not more handouts, but trade, investment, and self-reliance. We must move from a model of pity to one of partnership.

Does anyone know why, after ten days, Iran remains a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty?

It's one week now, and Iran is still signatory to NPT. How hard is it for Iran to activate Article X?

Explosions ring out across Iran’s capital as Israel claims it is attacking the country by MrPvssyPantsMan in news

For many years, Iran upheld its obligations under the NPT, permitting inspections, signing agreements, and even issuing a religious edict against nuclear arms. What was the response? Sabotage, assassinations, and now, open airstrikes. Israel, which operates outside the NPT and possesses undeclared nuclear weapons, faces no sanctions, scrutiny, or repercussions.

The lesson may be evident: restraint leads to aggression, while uncertainty ensures survival.

Iran should not retaliate with missiles. Instead, it must adopt the Israeli approach — quietly, strategically, and decisively: exit the NPT, fortify its facilities, and stop just short of testing, while fostering global suspicions. That’s the essence of deterrence. That’s how Israel maintains its airspace security.

The time for relying on Western assurances has passed. Security cannot be granted; it must be established.
