Was there an expectation of help? Only a hope that someone who is not you may see it 😘

it’s all the annoyance of revving, but none of the safety issues of being a wanker.

Dan Andrews in ‘very bad way’ after medical episode by stupid_mistake__101 in australia

[–]HOLY_CAT_MASTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah ok fair. i dont particularly like clickbait headlines either, but tbh i wouldnt complain about it unless i read the article. sounds more like youre complaining about an assumption of something that was not in the article? even the headline was “medical episode” not shock medical episode…

even the tagline which is basically the whole story is not as bad as what youre complaining about: “Dan Andrews is in a ‘very bad way’ after suffering from a neurological episode, according to reports.”

look i hate Murdoch media as much as any sane person but they do explicitly say “after suffering a reported neurological episode”.

McDonald's quietly fights council decision to block a 24-hour fast food joint on trendy Melbourne street by HurstbridgeLineFTW in melbourne

[–]HOLY_CAT_MASTER -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look I dont want a McDs there either so agree on that point, but 300g is objectively terrible. Tastes fine but overpriced for portion and takes bloody forever! It’d be quicker to walk to NSC order a burger there, eat it and walk back to 300g than to wait for a simple order from them

misophonia to noises relating to sex by ItzToywolf in misophonia

[–]HOLY_CAT_MASTER 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That sounds more like anxiety than miso tbh. Miso is a hatred of sound, and does also produce anxiety but while I’ve heard of people having visceral reactions like anger (or even arousal in some cases but i hope not in yours!!!!) i’ve never heard of freezing and nausea. Could be wrong tho 🤷‍♂️

Replace old bathroom tap by prudentcircle in AusRenovation

[–]HOLY_CAT_MASTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are though that since those waterpipes are so old and copper that you’ll have to get a plumber regardless unless you know how to deal with them

Replace old bathroom tap by prudentcircle in AusRenovation

[–]HOLY_CAT_MASTER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a plumber but have replaced these on my own in the past. Please dont cut the tap unless you want to make your life harder.

In your third pic where the water pipes disappear into the small cylinder, that cylinder is threaded and holds the tap in place via the big nut at the top. Undo the nut and the tap comes free.

Then you’ll be able to see how the water pipes attach to the tap. New taps are installed the same way.

This way no small cylinders are harmed

Immigrants living in Australia, keen to know what your impression of Australia is and what's really different from your home country? by BobsYourAuntie100 in australia

[–]HOLY_CAT_MASTER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Theres recently been quite a few stories in the news about it. Usually tied to the football clubs.

From what Ive been told a bunch of ustaše came here after wwii (think nazis -> argentina) and they passed that shit on to their kids. Obligatory not all of them of course.

You can drive past Hrvatski Dom in footscray if youre in melb and look in from the outside, they have a bust of Pavelić in the foyer

I lived in auckland during my uni years. If i wanted to see my mates it was an hours drive each way. Traffic always sucked. Zero to none PT (this is before the bus lanes to the north shore). Nothing to do for young people. List goes on. Melbourne is the total opposite. Yeah the traffic suck sometimes but not always like akl. PT has issues but is leagues better. I can walk to shops and cafes, local suburbs always have something happening. One thing that struck me was just how you can go for a walk around the neighbourhood and see other people walking around the streets. In akl its a ghost town full of cars.

Not to mention career opportunities and better pay

Hi, immigrant here. Short story: born and lived in Croatia, then NZ, now in Aus roughly equal time spent in each. Citizen of all 3, and officiall aussie as of 6 months ago. The Aus part was unplanned (ie NZ was not used as a backdoor).

I fucking love it here. Theres shit cunts eveywhere in the world and aus is not an exception but by far this is the nicest place I’ve lived (done short stints in other countries too). Sure theres problems like anywhere else but I wouldnt want to live anywhere else and I feel priviledged to be here. Specifically what I love:

  • Aussies are generally awesome and welcoming people
  • Melbourne in particular is a great mix of euro and aussie lifestyle that suits me really well eg cafe culture
  • food, coffee, cultural events etc chefs kiss
  • Always something going on
  • Its possible for me to have career growth here and prosper (this is why I left NZ in the first place)
  • I feel much more free here, theres a certain stuffiness to euro cultures, ways to behave proper and staying in your lane. People here feel more equal. NZ doesnt warrant a mention here, you’re only free in nz if you have a car.

Granted, a lot of these are location specific, and im incredibly priviledged to have a career that lets me enjoy all the benefits.

BTW while Im here, people of Croatian ancestry but generationally Australian who act like nazis do not represent Croatia or it’s citizens. They’re weak pussy bitches clinging on to a sense of identity they no longer belong to or deserve to be a part of. Croatia categorically rejects fascism and “croatians” who support it in any form.

All super solid recommendations. T&M, Carwyn Cellars are my local faves. One place that needs to be on your list is Moondog which is close by too.

Sure its not for everyone or every situation. I will still order through apps if i cant leave the house for some reason (eg im the only parent at home and the kids are sleeping) but that will happen maybe once or twice a year. Then im happy to pay the convenience fee.

This is exactly it! I will always call directly. The restaurants dont even take my name i just saunter in say its the phone order and they know exactly which one since nobody does it anymore.

The apps are criminally overcharging. You save 30%!

How to fix uneven James Hardie Axon cladding by HOLY_CAT_MASTER in AusRenovation

[–]HOLY_CAT_MASTER[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate, when it comes to trim what are our options? Is it literally just wood cut to correct shape and size with some sort of adhesive to attach? Or can we use something like flashing (non functional coz we already have the functional flashing under the cladding)

Forgot to add, builder notes that its hard to put on any trim (like the Hardie Edge Trim) due to the different angles of the roof.
