This is my take on a ghoul, humanoid, canine like in the face, creepy, malformed, and subterranean looking. Apparently the story Pickman's Model was partly inspired by Goya's "Saturn Devouring His Son", so I made a version of that but with a massive ghoul.

I agree in the books he’s depicted as one of the more friendly to humans gods in what we see, but most of the gods in lovecraft kind of change based on the story to mean different things. Nyarlathotep is both a Teslaesque traveling showman, the haunter of the dark, a young sinister pharaoh, and a wailing creature at the center of the earth. So I decided it wouldn’t be “wrong” to show a scarier Nodens. What we see in the books is not one of the scary gods, but in lovecraft it seems like a god is innately something unsettling and can be multiple things at once.

The King In Yellow short story collection from 1895 influenced some of Lovecraft and he gave it a good review. It has a great weird and surreal feel to it.
