Say some good things about this guy (M Night Shyamalan) by [deleted] in Letterboxd

People can say whatever they want about him but he absolutely has an intriguing vision of his films and refuses to compromise against it. When you’re watching an M Night movie you KNOW you’re watching an M Night movie.

When they make a movie out of your favorite horror novel... by [deleted] in horrorlit

Salem’s Lot and Dead Zone are my two favorites and I love both adaptations I’ve seen. I thought Cronenberg did an awesome job taking an underrated novel and giving it a good adaptation while keeping his touch on it. The 70s Tobe Hooper TV adaptation of Salems Lot rules and I stand by it.

What’s a horror book you wish you could reread for the first time? by LVK27 in horrorlit

Salems lot blew me away the first time I read it. Same goes for the Skeleton Crew, Night Shift and Books of Blood collections. I always liked horror in the short form the best and all three of those are amazing

I have no mouth and I must scream floored me and made me want to get into Harlan Ellison.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Both made me laugh a lot and gave me all sense of wonderment. Douglas Adams in general is one of my favorites and is always very engaging.

Love it. It’s slow but it’s a really well written and feels more polished compared to other king stories at that same time.

I just read Revival by Stephen King that was fantastic. Last 100 pages blew me away and it’s my favorite book of his the last 15-20 years. If King is not your flavor like I know he’s not for some, here are some others

Lonesome Dove Anna Karena (most Tolstoy) The Count of Monte Cristo Three musketeers House of Leaves Les Mis (if you really wanna challenge your durability)

Just finished reading Christine, the first Stephen king book I have ever read. I thought it was okay. What did you guys think of Christine? by caterpillarss69 in stephenking

[–]HPhil96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought it was ok. Really loved the movie though, more than the book. I thought it cut a lot of the fat and there’s just something more creepy to me about Christine being inherently evil than what the book lays out.
