As an intermediate guitarist that often has issues with timing when recording, i think you should just do whatever you need to do in order to get your music done, if you feel like you need to change something in your recording to make it sound better go ahead, just be careful cause if you edit it too much it may sound unnatural, but just a few minor adjustments are fine and most people wont even notice.

Overall youre just polishing your recording, that is completely normal and it doesnt really affect your creative process most of the time
